What's a good percentage on windows tint? I have 35% right now, its not that dark but I'm thinking about going lighter, so people can still see me. Like VIPish.

 

Do 70% all around, lighter but still looks good .

 

If u want to go lighter, 50%

Why do you want your tint lighter?

 

If you do have 35% tint you'll recognize the person driving, it's not that dark. That's what I've had since '04 without issues....Gary

 

35% is light enough...........Some do 50%,but whats the point....Keep what you have..

 

I did 35% on the sides and one shade darker on the rear.

 

I personally didn't see a point in getting 35% or lighter. If I wanted them that clear I just wouldn't tint my windows at all. I have 15% all around on mine and I love it. Came out perfect for my taste. At night you can't see much of anything, but during the day you can see just enough to determine a gender and basic description of the person inside. if you're right next to the window you can see my shifter and radio, but from further away its just a silhouette of the person with minor detail. If that's too dark for you, I'd say get 20%.

You said you're trying to go VIPish.... if by that you mean presidential....that'd be 5% which is pretty much just black. If you want to be seen but still have very dark windows, I'd go for 20%.

I have 1 pic in my album on my profile of my car with 15% tints (sorry, idk how to add an image into the post, tried n its not showing up)....the sun was beaming and the clouds reflected off the windows, so they look darker than they really are, but its a good enough example. I also have a black interior which makes it darker too.

 

35 fronts / 20 backs looks fine to me! no problems from the cops either

 

I have a tan interior so I can get away with a little darker tint. I have 15% all the way around and 50% on the windshield.

 

Thanks guys I'm keeping the 35% but just need to get it fixed cause there's a little bit of bubbles. Good thing I got the lifetime warranty

 

Keep in mind, the glass itself has a natural tint to it. If you put a meter on bare glass, you'll get a reading of about 78%. Most glass is 70-80%

Slap on 35% tint and you should get a reading of (.78 x .35= .273) about 27%.

I have 35% tint on my glass. When i put my meter on it i get an actual reading of 27%


50% tint on 78% glass should be about 39% when you slap a meter on it.

 

lol well in cali is illegal to have front tint. When i lived in houston i had 25%
