Hi,

I have 2004 G35 coupe. I ignored the chips caused by rocks & snow salt in winter. And now I observe the metal is rusted. I'm attaching photos & please suggest from your experience what treatment should be done!

1) what is the temporary treatment to prevent worsening?
2)Is this DIY possible?
3) If I take to body shop what is the estimated cost! ( knowing price here helps me whether the technician in body shop is charging right price)

That is pretty serious. Way past DIY stage you are at the point where that metal will need to be cut away in certain spots. Also, you need tires, BADLY. Unfortunately I cannot help you on price.

I feel for you guys that live in salted road areas.

If your fenders are that bad, you need to put it on a lift and look around. My guess is, there is a LOT more underneath. As for tires, thye look old and almost worn out, they may pass inspection <2/32" but not by much. The weather cracking is a dead giveaway.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am very glad you guys told about the tires. I will try to change tires as quick as possible! any suggestions on good tires..(old ones didn't turn out well )
