Grime on window trim?

I've got this weird build up on parts of the rubber trim under the windows (outside the car), mostly on the rear quarter piece. It looks almost like tree sap but it's not. Seen it on older cars often times but the trim pieces are dried out and matte looking, mine are still pretty fresh. Anyone have any tips for removing these deposits? I'll try to get some pics posted in a bit

Shoot a very small amout of WD40 on a rag and scrub the area where the grime is, should come right off. Now, so all the rubber on your car looks better than new buy Meguiar's Ultimate Black. Follow the instruction and do all the rubber around the windows and across the top too. You're gonna love the way this works and looks!

^ Thanks for the tip, was thinking WD-40 but wasn't sure if the trim would absorb it and stain. I'll give it a try and report back
P.S. I've always used back to black as well but recently I tried out 303 aerospace, that stuff is magic. You ought to give that a try, it's water based and as a bonus it's got spf 40. Great for interior too

Sorry for the late update, and still lack of pictures... The only thing that seems to work is essentially polishing the grime off. It is basically really hard deposits (closest comparison I can think of is cured tree sap). I tried wd-40, goo gone, simple green, dawn dish soap, engine degreaser, brake cleaner, windex, polish/scratch remover, and pretty much anything else I could find. It's going to be a long and arduous process but basically the only thing that's working is soaking with some form of degreaser or wd-40 and carefully scraping while trying not to gouge the rubber.

Should have said so sooner, but the plasti dip doesnt peel away from this soft piece easily. U will have to scrape it off as well.
