Lightbulb Mr Clean Magic Eraser on RIMS

I had stains on my rims that I could not remove with Simple Green Cleaner/Degreaser. I don't like to use harsh chemicals so I searched for another solution.

TO MY SURPRISE THE MR CLEAN MAGIC ERASER REMOVED THE STAINS FROM MY RIMS WITH ONLY WATER!

The product is amazing! It's marketed for home cleaning (Removes crayon marks and cleans grime from the walls, stove tops, etc.) but it's useful to anyone looking for a non-chemical way of keeping their rims clean.

The free trial offer is over.

Thanks for the info, the price is right...I'll give it a whirl.

Not sure about using it on rims though, brake dust has a very fine grain and you might just end up eating away at any clear coat,or wax (if any) that is applied to your rims.

I forgot to mention that I used it after I cleaned the rims the best I could with the aft mentioned cleaner.

Give it a try, I’m sure you’ll be impressed.

I would have never thought of using it for my rims. Good thinking. This stuff is incredible on wall marks around the house.

Yikes! I used this to get marks off my white walls before I sold my last home. From what I remember, it removes stains with a mild abrasive. I wouldn't want to use that on my wheels! I could be wrong . . . if so, let me know.

Clay bar worke great and is 100% safe for clearcoated wheels.

There's a new magic eraser made especially for wheel and tires with pictures of a guy cleaning his rims. However, it does warn "do not use on painted finishes of wheels." Do the 05 rims have a painted-finish? I'm thinking about using these things on my rims...

It worked wonders on my rims. I was so impressed that I felt I should share.

I found the following on BASF's website.
http://www.corporate.basf.com/en/pre...ld_16m0Obcp05M

This effect can be achieved on a wide variety of surfaces such as tiles, ceramic stovetops, ceramics, doors, leather seats and automobile wheel rims – and all without adding detergent. A little water is all that is needed to moisten the Magic Eraser. Even the most ingrained dirt cannot resist the glass hard microstructure of melamine resin. Only surfaces liable to scratching and varnished surfaces should not be cleaned with the “magician”.

It really is magic!!!
By Ryan LaNeve
Holy cow! The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is freakin' amazing! A quick Google search will show I'm late to the party, but I had to post something anyway because I was absolutely floored by this thing. I picked up a pack a week or so ago while buying stuff to wash my car. I picked up a standard monster brush to use on the rims, along with one of those “spray-on, wash-off, you're-done” products. I saw the Magic Eraser sitting right there and thought, “No way is this gonna do anything on my nasty wheels”, but it was very cheap so I thought I'd give it a shot. I started with the spray-on product, and it did absolutely nothing, even after two applications on one of the rims. Then I tried the Magic Eraser. Honest to God, it was effortless and the rims look brand new!! The months of dirt/grime/brake-dust just wiped away with no force whatsoever as quickly as I could move the eraser over the rims. It probably took all of 10 minutes to clean all four, despite how aweful they looked when I started. I was truly, truly amazed (enough to write this blog post).

If you haven't tried these things, by all means go pick up a pack and give 'em a shot. They've also got a Magic Erasor Duo which is two sided and meant to be used indoors (you use the non-eraser side to wipe up whatever it is you're trying to get rid of after going over it with the eraser). I'm definitely gettin' me some of those. Granted, there are some surfaces you'll want to keep these things away from, but they still work on a ton of stuff (even sneakers, according to some posts I found with Google). Check 'em out!

Sounds like everyone likes this product...saw it on the shelf at the store....the ones for auto use is about $7 CAN a box but the ones marketed for household cleaning is only $3 CAN....are they the same quality? Do the same job?

I use the original Mr. Clean Magic Eraser found here.

I believe the only difference is the quantity of erasers in the packaging (2 vs. 4) and who it is marketed to.

Here’s a tip:
Don’t use the entire eraser to clean the rim. Once the portion of the eraser becomes soiled; tear off that piece and continue cleaning. I’ve cleaned my rims several times and I’m only on the second eraser out of the two-pack.

I Like it ALot

I purchased some at walmart on the late night. The packaging said they were for rims. To my surprise it had 4 in the package. Used one and my rims were spotless. After owning many sets of rims i felt it did just as good a job as a brush. They only thing is that the one I used is falling apart, i'd say you will only get two washes per eraser . Cheap at Walmart too.
