menzerna fmj

does anyone have first hand experience with menzerna fmj?

i'm currently using klasse and don't really have any complaints, but fmj sounds like it might have a few advantages

replying to myself...since there is a sale i went ahead and bought some, i'll post some pics and a comparison to klasse when i get it applied. probably won't be before the sale is up though (april 30th)...

Order a 16 oz. or 32 oz. bottle of FMJ and we'll give you a 16 oz. spray bottle of High Gloss Acrylic Shield (a $14.95 value) for 1 cent! If you're not happy with the results, return the FMJ for a full refund and keep the High Gloss Acrylic Shield with our compliments!

i got it in a few weeks ago, and can't really tell any difference visually when compared to klasse, they perform the same in the rain. the only difference is the menzerna is a little easier to work with.

my test was was strip my hood, apply 3m swirl mark remover with a buffer, then 3m imperial hand glaze with a buffer. then i took one side of the hood and applied klasse aio by buffer, then 2 coats of klasse hgs by hand. on the other side i applied 3 coats of menzerna fmj and finished it off with the menzerna high gloss spray.

i also tried the spray on the half of the klasse side. the spray definitely makes the fmj look better, but i couldn't notice it on the klasse side.

i'll probably start using the fmj just because its easier to work with, but visually i can't tell a difference.

Good to know, I'm a big fan of the Klasse Twins but I also have the FMJ now. I still use both and I'm still undecided on what I think is better.

Punchit: Any experience with the durability of the FMJ? And any opinion on whether FMJ would look better on a dark or light colored car? Thanks.

I just detailed a blue WRX Sti with the FMJ, actually using the whole Menzerna line. The kid I did the work for was really happy, he posted a gallery of before and after photos if you want to compare http://www.rimalpatel.com/gallery/album04.
As for the durability of the FMJ it should last about 4 to 6 months, it's an acrylic wax so it's meant to last. It should be one of the longer lasting waxes out there especially if you used the Intensive Polish before you wax it, it tends to hold longer.
As for its appearance on dark vs. light colored cars I don't know if I've used it enough times on enough different types of paints to know. I don't like to speak out if I'm not sure how I feel about a product. I just got the entire Menzerna line in and I plan on using it more often. My friend has a silver S4 that will be detailed soon I'll try to pay extra close attention to it and let you know what I think.

did you wait at least 12 hours between applications of FMJ?

nope..didn't know i was supposed to, i didn't get any real instructions with it, and i don't see any on properauto cares website. the extent of the directions on the bottle are, rub on, rub off, don't drink it.

i'm going to email proper and see what they say

any updated views of the FMJ? I have been using it for a few months now and am really impressed with it, I can't see switching to anything else in the future.

I switched from Zaino to FMJ about 3 months ago. I was intially happy with the results. The FMJ is easier to use but even after 4-5 coats, I was getting water spots that were very difficult to remove. It occurred to me that I never had that problem before so I switched back to Zaino. The FMJ was effective enough but the high gloss spray was streaky. Overall, the FMJ was a good sealant amont good sealants but, speaking from experience, the Zaino is longer lasting (fact) and more shiny (opinion). I'll get around to trying Klasse someday.
