Best Cleaner to Get Bug Stains Off Your Car

Hey all,

Just wanted to know what everyone is using to get bug stains off their paint? I drove down from SJ to LA and get f'd up from the bugs and now I can't get the stains off. I have tried Nu Finish (scratch and swirl remover) because it said that it could remove bug stains too (kill two birds with one stone), but that stuff sucked big time... It doesn't remove swirls or scratches (not that I was expecting miracles) and it certainly does not help to remove bug stains..

I usually don't like using Turtle Wax products, but they were the only ones in Pep Boyz with an actual Bug and Tar remover. Anyone used this product? How does it work? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I used to try different bug removers in search of the best one. After using four or more different products I realized they all performed about the same. I think they all contain the same ingredients; they just have a different name stamped on the container.

I've tried two different brands, including Meguiars and neither one was very effective. No matter how much elbow grease you use, there always seems to be a residual stain.

You can try some of the Bug & Tar remover but it's best to clean off the bugs IMMEDIATELY or else they'll etch into your clearcoat over time. If the Bug & Tar remover doesnt work, try to claybar the spots and as a final resort, use some 3M Swirl Mark Remover (part #39009 for dark colored cars, #39109 for light colored cars) followed up by a coat of wax. For future reference, always try to have at least a few coats of wax on the front of the car where it is susceptbile to bug stains. It'll definitely make cleaning the stains a simpler task and protects your clearcoat as well.

There is a bug and tar block thats like a firm sponge that usually works really well. I just detailied a WRX Sti and it goes 200 miles a day and it was plastered with bugs. The bug sponge did a great job with a little elbow grease. It's a cheap investment for the great results http://secure.detailedimage.com/Merc...de=Accessories. Its firm enough to cut through nasty stuff yet not scratch the paint. When I do a wash I usually use it to do the lower panels to remove tar and stuff too. It does a great job on tar as well so I hope it can handle the bugs too.

ClearBra... I have not had a "bug" problems since. They are easily removed during a normal car wash.
