Amount of Zaino Z2+ZFX for 1 coat?

Hey guys, for you Zaino users out there...just wondering how much Z2 you are using to get 1 coat on your G? I keep reading that you should put the thinnest layer possible on. When I mix the Z2+ZFX in the mixing bottles, I fill the bottle to a little less than half way, probaby like 40%, and this only gets me 1 coat. Am I using way too much? I don't see how you can use any less than that. Seems like the applicator holds a bunch of polish and only a little goes on the car, so little in fact that I can't even see it sometimes. Any helpful tips or tricks?

sounds just like how i do my car.........i use water to get the pad wet and squeeze all the excess out, then use z6 to get the pad moist before adding a small amount of z2+zfx to the pad, a little bit of squeezing to spread the polish on the pad....then pat the area that i am working on in several places to spread the polish out.......most of the polish is on the car now.......then spread it in a uniform layer........when the pad starts to get dry and more z6.........i use about 1/2 a bottle for each coat

I get 2 coats from half a bottle or about 4 drops worth of ZFX according to the little chart.

I had the same problem with that stupid cotton applicator they give you. Try using foam applicator's instead.

I got easy even coats without pushing as hard and using half the amount. I think the cotton applicator absorbes the polish vs. foam which keeps much at the surface.

They're not that big of an investment since there pretty cheap. I have some before and after pics here https://g35driver.com/forums/care-detailing/52640-just-got-done-buffing-out-swirls-black-g35-pics.html

From what i've read using 40% of the bottle for one coat is way too much. I think you are supposed to get 3-4 coats from an ounce but i'm not too sure.

I've been using all the Zaino products for about 2 years now with great success. I actually measured 1 oz of water into the mixing bottle and drew a line on it with a Sharpie, so I'd know where 1 and 2 oz were. At first I was using way too much, but the lasst several times I've applied Z5 and Z2, I was getting one full coat with 1 oz. I mist the applicator pad with Z6 and mist it periodically throughout the process. Using only 1 oz is the way to go, as this product works best with multiple 'thin' coats. Also lots easier to buff off. That's my two cents worth.

with a foam applicator I can get over 2 coats from one ounce. The plastic bottles they give you with the ZFX is 2 ounces, so I just fill it half way for one ounce.

Just wondering, as I ordered some products from lazaino.com and their instructions mention he is getting like 2.5 to 3.5 coats per 1oz of Z2 (on a Camaro). Seemed like when I tried to do 1 coat I used atleast a whole ounce. Didn't know if it is just cause I'm a newbie or what. I still don't see how you can get more than 1 coat out of 1oz, especially using the cotton applicator. It seems to soak up atleast half of what you put on.

That's exactly what I did. It looked like I was making crystal meth in my garage when I was marking off the bottles, transferring fluids, using the dropper. It used to take me a full ounce for one coat. But the more and more you use zaino, the better at it you will become. Now it takes me about 1/2 an ounce for a coat.

Hey, what do you guys use to remove/buff off the Zaino wax? I used a microfiber rag, two of them, and the amount of elbow grease nessessary about killed my arms after one coat!!!! I would use 100% cotton like it recommends, but I didn't have any available.

Is it easier to remove the wax with cotton towls?

Thanks

DO NOT USE COTTON TOWELS UNLESS YOU WANT SWIRLS!!!! Yes they make it removing Zaino 1,000 times easier BUT they give ya swirls! Stifk with MF!!! I made the mistake of switching to cotton and it was the worse thing I ever did! MF will work fine. Remove as much as you can with the MF and after hit with Z6 and a clean MF which will remove the streaks!!! BTW, I can usually get about 3 coats out of 1oz. Get's close towards the end. The key with Zaino is the lighter the better. You should easily be able to "read" through it when it is dry on the car....that's how thin it needs to be.

Depends what kind of Cotton Towel you use. If you use the ones recommended by Zaino and brand you will not have swirls.

I have used 100% cotton towels and right off the top of my head I forget the brand, but had to get them at Bed Bath and Beyond. They have never scratched any of my cars in the 5 years I have been using Zaino.

The new G35 will get Zaino treatment the same way once it gets here.
