Wax on new paint
Had some paint work on bumper and hood (new grill, too). I was told to wax it 3-4 times over the next 4-6wks. They did an awesome job (Houston,TX-Meszaros-highly recomended-former body shop for west houston infiniti--their cars now go to mossy nissan). I have heard some say to wait until the paint cures b4 waxing--but this conflicts with what they told me--and these guys don't mess around with cheap cars--BMWs, Jags, Mercedes, Porsche, etc figure they know best. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestions
The following was written in the g35 thread below, and is why I asked my question in this thread.
I even put the new thread in the right section, too
, Still no responses. Well--still a good site.

Paints do need about 60-90 days to cure, but that applies more to body shop work. Paint from the factory has been baked adequately to speed up the curing process. If the car just came from the body shop, I'd say don't wax for at least 90 days, but since the car is new, I wouldn't worry about it. If you don't let the paint cure, what ends up happening is the paint may cloud the clear coat because it can volatize.
If it was me and I was buying a new car, I'd tell them I'll clean up the car myself, especially if it's a black car

Nice work on your car...
As for the wax on new paint - check-out Autopia.org for all "detailing" questions and suggestions. This is a controversial subject but I'd be pretty sure that the pro's who applied your paint know what they're talking about.
Just be sure it is only a wax, and not a cleaner, sealant or polish.. Use a pure carnuba wax like Meg's#26 or PS1. Lot's of so-called "carnuba waxes" have cleaners so read contents carefully.
Best of luck...

If you dont mind telling - How much did it cost to have your bumper/hood worked on? I am thinking of doing the same w/ my coupe and finally putting on a clear bra that I should have probably installed on Day 1.
I just hate all those paint chips.

If they said wax it right away then go ahead and wax it. You CAN polish paint with in hours of the repair because polishes do not leave anything behind unlike waxes or sealants.

Thanks for the replies.
Francis--It was around $650 for the hood and bumper(I had to subtract for the grill ($224 installed). It was well worth it since my front end was VERY road rashed from small/&large debris and what not from the road. That is with the bumper OFF the car. They do great work there--Highly recommend them. Not only do they do great work-but they do so without any collateral damage--ie no sand/buff marks on adjacent fenders, headlights, or wiper arms etc--no sticky masking tape glue anywhere, no overspray,no runs or debris in paint and it is a mirror finish--NOT a hazy finish. Let me know if you use them--it is worth the drive if you are not in the west part of Houston--(I10/Bw8 area for Meszaros). They will remember my car.
What color is your coupe, Francis? I know black is very easy to match--but I am sure that b/c they are so good they can match pretty much any color.
BTW, I waxed my G sedan today with Meguires Carnauba wax-turned out very nice.
