Zaino & Dessert Protection
Zaino & Dessert Protection
The Pheonix heat and sun is brutal....Pinnacle Infiniti pretty much strongarms you into buying the dessert protection package. Its basically a very fancy car wash that "supposedly" applies a "very strong" protective coat. Unfortunately, except for Z6, the Zaino products are not compatible. The Z1/Z2 combo never cured and didn't all come off....until Z7+Z6.
Anyone have experience with Dessert Protection? Do I need to use Dawn before using Zaino?

Re: Zaino & Dessert Protection
I have this problem. When people come over, they are constantly trying to get thier grubby paws on my ice cream. Finally, I installed a lock on my freezer. It the best dessert protection money can buy!
Re: Zaino & Dessert Protection
I was thinking along the same lines, however I pictured a piece of cake on the hood of a freshy waxed car with a bunch of men in lab coats taking notes on the the way it tarnishes the finish...

Sorry but I was thinking about the time I poured some Blackfire on my strawberry ice cream because it smells so good. Funny how things that smell real good don't taste that way too, ya know

Yes, you need to use Dawn before applying Zaino. How long did you wait for it to cure? I usually leave it on overnight. You could always use ZFX for faster drying times.

In the desert, things dry very fast. I let Z1 dry for about1 hour then applied z2. I let it dry overnight. It was very pastey (is that spelled correctly funny guys) in the morning.

You're not supposed to let Z1 dry that long. After you apply it, immediately apply Z2. From your description, it sounds like you are applying Z2 waaaayyyy to thick. Use a very thin coat, it's not like using carnuba wax. Read my FAQ in the FAQ forum for more tips.

Re: Zaino & Dessert Protection
Dawn for sure, addition of clay bar would be even better. Do everything out of the dessert (oops, kidding folks- clay bar should be done out of the sun and desert heat.) Z1 should not be dry when applying Z2/Z5. 1 ounce of Z2/Z5 should do a whole car!
If you haven't tried clay barring the finish, try it- OMG- the finish is so contaminated with fallout before you try it. Follow directions for clay bar (Z7/water mix lubricant,...)
The difference is huge. My buddy was dubious until we did his Saab, now he's a convert. Well worth the time, and since you get two clay bars per tub, it goes twice as fast since you can get a helper. (wives, friends, children make excellent helpers as it turns out.
