Ok, here it goes: Last week I park my car at work in the same parking lot I do every single day. Apparently our company had some private contractors doing some work on our building fire spinkler system...and was using another part of the parking lot to do a little spray painting on some of the sprinkler parts (which were red). It was quite a windy day...you do the math. I wash my car this weekend and notice very small red dots on my nice black paint.

The insurance company for the contractor is going to pay to have the problem corrected. Does anyone know what would work best?? Should I take it to get a professional wax/detailing? Would that even take out the spots?

I need help!

 

If they're fine dots they should come off with clay bar.
Had the same thing happen to me; cleaned up no problem (did it myself)

You need to do one area at a time & keep flushing with water or the dots stick again.

 

Mineral spirits might take it off, clay might take it off, a medium level abrasive polish will almost definitely take it off. Either way I would find a good local detailer (check Autopia) and let them take care of it. Should just be a matter of wash/clay/polish/wax. Might as well get a good detail out of it, right?

 

If it's a fine mist of paint, then a clay bar will take it right off. When I bought the Navigator, there was a bit of paint overspray on the top of the tailgate. From where I don't know and who knows how long it's been there. I took a clay bar to it and it was gone in 5 minutes.

 

yea everyone's gonna say: claybar will work..

just pocket the money.. or hell get a gallon of red paint and splash it on your car.. say they did it.. more $$ and new paint job no more swirls or scratches
