Gas spilled on the perforated seat

What can I do to remove the gas and odor that spilled on the seat from the gas can?

I looked at some Internet boards and they suggest using vinegar and laundry detergent. Is there some other cleaner?

If the leather wasn't perforated, I could have wiped it right up with no problem, but some soaked into the foam. At least it was the back seat of the sedan.

There are a lot of ways to remove smells, but I think in this case the best bet would be to dilute some white vinegar with some water (3:1 water:vinegar, I would say) then scrub the area down well, and wipe down right after. If the smell comes back, repeat as necassary over the coming week - it shouldn't remain after a few wipedowns.

If that doesn't do it for you (either the smell, or you don't like the idea) try some of this:

I use that stuff all the time (the powder) and it really does work. It won't eliminate the actual gas spill, but the smell will be gone.

Lucky it was the back seat. I took the cushion out and used some soapy water and squished it through the foam and used towels to soak it up. Then repeated it a couple of times. I'm going to leave it out and let it dry a couple of days.

You were carrying a gas can in your back seat?
