Need HELP ASAP!

I'm in the process of detailing my car. I noticed a huge glob on the door. I thought it was water but to my surprise it's friggin tree SAP! I'm trying soap and water, detailing mist, nothing will get it off. What can I do to get it off my car without harming my paint or clear coat?

Re: Need HELP ASAP!

OK, after trying clay bar, dawn, and numerous other methods nothing seemed to get it off. UNTIL I decided to brave using my Simple Green. Says it's safe for all automotive surfaces. Here we go. Applied very small amount on towel just in case. Rub over sap area. VOILA! It came off instantly. And no damage to clear coat or paint. WHEW! Remember this cuz tree sap otherwise is a BIAT-H! to get off.

No damaging effects whatsoever? I have been looking for something to get sap off for a long time. Please look real close... cause if Simple Green works, then you 'da man!

Re: Need HELP ASAP!

Try paint thinner or Prepsol. They don't affect cured paint or clear coats as simple green will. It will etch bare aluminum. Watch out it does bite.

Just get Tar remover. It works.. The one I have is from turtle wax.

Re: Need HELP ASAP!

Hey wreck... tar remover does NOT work on sap. Believe me... I have used the exact product that you are talking about, and if the sap has dried, there is no way it comes off with tar remover.

I always thought paint thinner would eat the paint... so it doesn't?

yeah, paint thinner does NOT remove clearcoated paint.....as long as its cured of course
But just remember to wash with soap and then wax over the area once you are done w/ paint thinner

Re: Need HELP ASAP!

Bug Tar remove works great for me. I have no problems with it. I did look at their webpage and notice the metal bottle I have is not listed. Seems like in a spray form now. Maybe the spray form is not aggressive as the one I have. Just yesterday I used it to remove some red paint on my bumper.
