WHAT IS CRYSTAL GUARD?
Re: WHAT IS CRYSTAL GUARD?
Hitman is protected by an impenetrable layer of skepticism which is impervious to logic. (just kidding!)
Really, science is great, but the proof is in the pudding. I live in a neighborhood under construction, with lots of dirt and mud in the street. Before I used CG, once the car got dirty, it took a good washing with soap & water to make it look better. Now that it has CG on it, a simple rainstorm (no soap) seems to make it look just as good. Weird.
So far, I'm a believer.

You're right. False advertising. Everyone the US does it, right? I mean, it's not like anyone's going to file a lawsuit against a big company in the US. Oh no, not here of all places. Stop banging your head against the wall; it seems to have affected damage.

Now really, are you trying to say that false advertisement doesn't happen every day? Give me a break. Just look at all the "only available through this special TV offer" types of gimmicks that companies sell, often with ludicrus claims. Or how about the diet pills that claim to burn fat while you sleep. If you don't think advertisers stretch the truth or flat-out lie on a regular basis, you're being naive. So just because the makers of CG claim that it protects better, I'm not going to blindly take them at their word.
That said, I'm not calling the makers of CG liars, I'm just saying that their product is way over-priced. Even if it does offer better protection than wax, I don't think it offers 10x the protection of wax. CG may be hard, but it has to go on extremely thin considering how little that bottle is. I'm just not convinced that it's the ground breaking product they claim it is. To my way of thinking, your're better off using wax more often to build up a thicker layer of protection, and you'll still save money.

"rainstorms do the same for me too James"
I just pictured you standing out in a rainstorm doing a 'Singing in the Rain" "with no soap".
Personally, I like to use Zest and deodorant after. That way it makes me look and smell better!

Re: WHAT IS CRYSTAL GUARD?
PS- Yeah, I think it's overpriced as well. Once it gains a larger market share they can afford to lower it, but for now they still need to get their R&D back. Price aside, I would prefer its protection...

Okay, I can only assume a little sarcasm in your reply, no? If not, I find it incredibly ludicrous that someone apparently as educated as yourself cannot see my point that there is in fact false advertsing taking place in this world of ours. Like I already said-- if you choose to believe every claim of every company selling a product, then fine. I know better.

Your "pebble at 60mph" scenario... I'm assuming this pebble fell off of a truck in front of you, and didn't just jump up from the road? If this is the case, go read a chapter on inertial physics and come back and ask the question if you still think it's even remotely realistic. Hint: the pebble isn't really traveling at 60mph relative to your car. You figure out the rest.
Don't be so condescending, bud...... Your assumption is 100% wrong. I was not implying that it fell off a truck in front of me. Do you think it is NOT possible to have a pebble strike your car on the highway at a speed of 60 mph? Of course it is...... imagine a pebble sitting on the road gets run over by the car in front of you and lifted nearly straight up into the air. Now here you come, at a speed of 70 mph (perfectly legal in many states these days) heading straight for said pebble. When your car (traveling 70 mph) collides with a nearly stationary pebble, what do you think the impact speed will be? Use a little logic next time and stop making absurd assumptions.

Bird crap. I'm glad you've never had to deal with it, but it will actually scratch your car if you attempt to wipe it off without lifting it or without proper paint protection. I'm not sure if you're happy with tiny scratches, swirl marks, and "spider webs", but perhaps you've never seen them, and perhaps you've never wiped off bird crap. You can't possibly deny the fact that birds keep rocks in the gullet and expel them with their feces... so then how can you deny their crap contains rocks? Rocks scratch, right? So, logically we could say that bird crap contains rocks, rocks scratch, thus... big conclusion here... bird crap can scratch. Tada! Don't make me go Socratic on you...
I did not ever once deny that bird crap can contain small rocks. You might need to read my posts again, as it seem there's a reading comprehension problem here on your part.
Just for the record, not ALL bird crap contains tiny rocks. There are plenty of birds that do not use rocks to aid in digestion. But that's a moot point, because the fact is that there very well could be small rocks in a splatter of bird crap on your car.
Sorry, but I use the common sense approach to cleaning bird crap off my car. I simply soad it with water (to soften it up) and flush it off with a garden hose. Maybe you should try that.... it works wonders for me. Never got a scratch my bird crap yet!

If you're looking for a super-amazing-never-fails-ever-not-even-if-a-4x4-goes-through-the-hood-at-800mph wax, you're not going to find it. Even bullet-proof glass will fail if the bullet is going fast enough, but we're talking about a product created to withstand certain pressures from certain materials with certain tolerances, and it absolutely does it much better than wax-- THAT is my point.
Ah, and that's a very good point. At least you ALMOST admitted that the CG protection is not the "hard shell" protection you have proclaimed so many other times in this thread. I'm so glad I bought up the SPEED of an object (softer than CG), because some people reading this thread might be under the assumption that any object softer than the hardness of CG could not possibly damage their finish. We all know better than that though, don't we?
Quote:
PS. You argue vociferously that CG is practicing false advertising. One might even consider that libel if they were paying attention... go sue Crystal Guard and tell me the verdict, then, and only then, will I acquiesce to that argument-- I will even refund your legal fees.
I lost a little respect for you with that last comment..... I have not in any way/shape/form claimed that the company that produces/sell CG is guilty of false advertising. Show me where I said that....... I'll be waiting.
Maybe you really should take some reading comprehsion courses.......

Just got back from (custom exotica) I had them CrystalGuard EX my G35c, I rec'vd 10% club discount,$25.00 discount.
Toshihiro Hirakawa (Toshi) The CrystalGuard EX Specialist (toshi@customexotica.com) did the work as I stood by.
The increase in shine and gloss is stunning. I would recommend their shop to anyone. They appear to do amazing work.

I live in the bay area and am thinking about bringing my G over to those guys who'll do the Crystal Guard Pro application correctly. How much did they charge you and how long did you have to leave it there?
