Is it bad to wash your car often?

Hey my buddy who owns an RSX told me that it's bad to wash the car once a week... and that you shouldn't wash it that often. Is that true? and if so.. how often should i wash the G35?

I'm surprised you don't know this! It's common sense - once every month is enough! C'mon, what's the logic here? It's like saying it's bad to take a shower every day! I think your buddy is afraid of the paint washing off on his RSX.

If you car requires a wash because it is dirty, I would do as such. However, if it is clean and you plan to wash it just for washing it sake . . . Perhaps, you may wish to toss some dirt on it first.

Seriously, if your car has bird droppings, sap, road tar, etc. I would removed the said as soon as possible, regardless of how many times you may have washed the car previously.

Use a light gentle soap followed up by a good application of a good high quality wax product.

So if you're saying that once a month is enough then why is it so common sense considering that taking a shower every day is fine in comparison?
Give your head a shake buddy. It's a simple question. Give me a simple answer. -_-"
Unless you're being sarcastic about the once a month thing and saying that it's fine to wash whenever... if so then sorry about the attitude... I just get different answers so I want to know from the best.

Like Andy said, Ifyour car has filth on it even if you've washed your car within a week....proceed to clean. I know my car gets droppings on it even a day after i wash it sometimes

In addition you shouldn't was your car under the hot sun. Make sure the body of the car is cool when washing it. DO NOT use dish washing soap this is to strong for the paint. Make sure you use car wash soap solution this works best for the paint of your car.

I'm exagerrating. I'm saying there's no reason why you shouldn't wash it however often you like, except for environmental reasons (wasting water, etc.). Get with it.

Edit: Sorry, you posted an edit without me first seeing it. Yes, I'm being sarcastic, although the environmental reason may hold some merit.

Screw the environmental thing. I shower 1 to 2 times a day whether I need it or not. LOL

Washing your ride isn't doing anything bad at all, provided you use proper care, soap and materials.
If she gets dirty often and you wash it often, then wax it often. Simple as that----enjoy the shiny ride.
Any comments from a buddy to the contrary are unfounded and probably jealousy.

C.

Well, if it's dirty, wash it. If it's not, then don't. Pretty simple. I wouldn't wash the car if it's still pretty clean since in theory, everytime you wash or wax, it'll probably surface-scratch the paint just a tad.
