Help!! Permanent Marker on Clear Bra and Paint

I just don't understand people sometimes. I've had the car for only two and a half weeks, and it got vandalized last night. I got to my car this morning to go to work, and I noticed that someone had written all these explitives with a permanent marker on my clear bra and hood.

Luckily, I had put on a clear bra on the hood about two weeks ago. The bumper piece was put on last weekend. Since I put the clear bras myself, I haven't had time to wax the car yet. The dealer had put on a coat of wax when I bought it.

Does anyone know how to get the markings off the paint and clear bra? I'll have to try to take it off tonight after I get home. Any advise is appreciated! Thanks.

Also, should I report this to the police? My comprehensive is $500, so there's no way I'm reporting this to the insurance company if I had to repaint the hood. I'm thinking I should report it anyway and take pictures.

Relax it will come off both the bra and the hood. Its lucky your car didn't get keyed. You can use nail polish remover on the clear bra and for the hood you should be able to get some cleaner from Home Depot or just buff it off.

It might be a good time to think about a garage if its possible.

Report it and take a few pics; you might also consider trying to mount cameras facing where you park, or if you can't do that you can mount in car cameras if you are creative enough.

Thanks. I'll try using my wife's nail polish remover for the clear bra. Hope it works. I'll try using rubbing alcohol, simple green or clay bar for the paint part. I don't have access to a garage since I'm in an apartment complex, and I don't know if I want to go through the hassle of installing a camera inside or outside of my car. I just had to vent a bit.

Sorry to hear about what happened to your car.
Might make you feel better if you start believing in karma.

Use Meguiars Scratch X on the paint portion...only keep it minimum to the actual ink and dont keep it there for too long...

You'll get away with it this time, no worries champ.

Personally I would try rubbing alcohol first before I tried nail polish remover, IPA tends to be less damaging to surfaces that acetone. Good luck!

Word. Claying should get rid of the ink on the paint.

i don't think claying will do much. Isopropyl alcohol will get it off the paint. Watch out w/ acetone as it will damage paint and will damage plastics. It eats away plastic so not sure how it would affect the clear bra.

You may want to just use a polish as others have suggested. A mild polish and some elbow grease should get it out.

Thanks for everone's response. I'm going to file a report with the police when I get home, and then follow your suggestions to take off the graffiti. Thanks for listening and understanding. I definitely feel better now since I've had a chance to vent and knowing that there are car nuts out there who can understand my pain.

Dont use nail polish, it will cloud up your clear bra. Just use alcohol, it takes off ink in a heartbeat.

Hey Guys,
I reported the incident to the police tonight, and they came and took pictures. I then used rubbing alcohol and the grafitti came right off the paint. No problem there, but there are still very faint marks on the clear bra. I guess I'll have to buy another piece and install it in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all your suggestions!
