covered under warranty?

I was backing up my car, and apparently there was some sort of concrete post, but because of the direction the car was facing, I backed into the corner of the post, kinda like this:

So now, I've got a nice dent on the rear bumper down to where the license plate it, etc.

I've only had the car for two days.

Would this be covered under warranty, and if not, how much do you guys think it would cost to fix?

Re: covered under warranty?

man that sucks.
any accidents that were done by yourself are by yourself. No car company warranty ever covers improper use and abuse (meaning accidents). Go to a couple local body shops and have them give you a quote. If it's not to bad you can just have them slap a little bondo on it and repaint it. Guessing any where from $400 to refurbush it. Or $1000+ to get a new bumper and paint.

Don't feel to bad, I f'd up and curb rashed a 1/2" inch on my 18" rim yesterday. Now I gotta spend more $ on it that's not necessary.

Sorry to hear about your dent. Unfortunately, no warranty will cover this for you. Suggest you visit a reputable body shop and get a quote. As the dent is on the bumper (and not the body), it may be less expensive.

Are you in Vancouver? If so, I can suggest someone.

Good luck.

Sorry, they're right. The warranty will not cover your own driving mistakes. If you have a full-coverage insurance policy, your comprehensive coverage will cover it, minus a deductible, but this type of claim can count against you and ultimately raise your insurance premiums. I recently had the rear bumper on my sedan fixed (new bumper cover, repainted, installed) and the total bill was around $600. Of course, in my case, someone rear-ended me, and his insurance covered it.

Re: covered under warranty?

Wow your body shop guys are expensive. For that mine would charge around 300$ and the new bumper is only 225$. If you decided to get a new bumper it would probably cost around 700$ to put on and repaint. Sometimes more beacuse they have to replace the bumper foam because you probably damaged that too.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Soryy about that.....been there did it...how dumb you feel is almost worse than the damage to the car!! Cost me $273 to have my front bumber repaired and repainted after a rock hit hit...they repainted the entire bumper since it was black...but the damage was not bad so I would assume you may need whole new bumper....bummer....bumper....bummer
