Cool Do you wipe the dust of your car?

every day dust accumulate on my G and to keep that nice clean look i had to wipe it every night so it doesnt accumulate much. the question is this bad for the paint and it seems to create some swirl. How do you guys keep your G spotless without washing it every other day. i use Terry Towel and wipe it very gently.

A California Duster works great for removing light dust.

FWIW...
I use Zaino Z-6 & micro-fiber towel.... (JMHO)the only way without causing damage.
I think it's good that you're re-evaluating your current method

I have no experience with Cali Duster... but I know GEE35X likes his a lot.

intgr8r, so you are saying that you just spray Z-6 over the dust and wipe it?

Yes... For light dust.
Dampen a MF towel with Z-6 & fog an area with Z-6 & wipe.
Follow with a dry MF towel to buff.

The Z-6 provides protection while wiping the dust.
Side benefit.. your shine gets deeper & deeper

MSM introduced me to this method

I have to concur with InTg8r, his method does work great.
I also took the MSM Detailing Apprenticeship Program, which as far as I'm concernrd has to be one of the best courses around .
I use this method also, and quite often I use my Cali Duster first.

The reason qd's work is they have very high lubricity, which allows them to lift the dirt off the paint before you wipe. I wouldn't use a dedicated qd for anything but light dust though, as GEE35X and inTgr8r mentioned. For up to moderate dust there are sprays which are specifically for that, such as Poorboys Spray & Wipe, which is esentially a waterless wash.

http://poorboysworld.com/spray-wipe.htm

I use that on my car pretty much everyday, since I don't have the opportunity to wash it very often.

The next step up, for a true "waterless wash" would be something like Quick And Easy Wash, which is a staple for mobile detailers. You just add a couple ounces of QEW to a bucket full of water then wash and wipe away.

Cheers.

Thanks for the great explanations Picus. Always appreciate your input and knowledge on detailing. As someone said in another thread somewhere it would be great to have a detailing workshop on the hows and whys led by you sometime.

Ok What about Kozak? have you used it? it seems easier to use coz it doesn't involve spraying or carying another bottle. My main use is only for dusting and removing small particles off my car so i don't have to wash every other day.

Yep - they work too, but I only use them on really light dust or pollen. Very similar idea to Spray & Wipe, but without the bottle of liquid. You just have to be a little more careful with them (refold them often) since they don't have much of a nap.

GEE35X - don't give me too much credit, I get most of my info from autopia too. I'd like to do a "polish your car" day sometime too because as usual my black car is looking a little ragged. Unfortunately I think it might have to wait till after the winter since it will probably be snowing so soon, plus a lot of us have the "demon eyes' workshop on the horizon. Perhaps we could integrate them, 2 for 1 style!

As previously stated, the Cali Duster works great on light to medium dust, just make sure that you shake it off in between swipes over the car. Try to use light swipes, and do not push hard over the paint while dusting off. I generally dust my car off every morning (garage kept) only if it hasn't rained the day before. I also use a QD product called Speed Shine: http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=34603 twice to three times a week in between washes, but any other products mentioned above work just as well.

I missed that one. Hopefully some day I'll have a chance to graduate too.
