Help Me Tint My Car!

O.k., I've decided to tint my baby.

It's a black G35 Sedan with Willow interior.

I've decided to go for Formula One Tint (whatever that's worth).

I live in California. I'm really conservative. I'd rather have a tint job that looks factory. Also, I don't want to be hassled by the cops. So, I don't want limo tint or mirror tint. I basically want to reduce heat and protect my interior.

What do you all think?
1. Medium all the way around (except front windshield)?
2. Light all the way around (except front windshield)?
3. Light on front windows, medium on back windows and rear winshield?

Re: Help Me Tint My Car!

get the most legally dark tint you can for the front windshield and get it on the rear windows too. Then get a shade darker for the rear window.

The side windows will look the same and the rear tint will help keep the back cooler.

Just my opinion. I have done this with numerous cars and always looks classy.

Re: Help Me Tint My Car!

If you don't want to be hassled by the cops, then you better not tint the front windows. From my understanding, it is illegal to tint the front windows in California. I'm pretty sure about this, but I could be wrong. Somewhere in this forum there is a link that has the state laws for tinting windows. Try doing a search. I just tinted all of the back windows....Not sure about the shade of tint. I can look that up if you want the info...

Re: Help Me Tint My Car!

I have a Garnet Fire Sedan with Willow interior, I used Solar Guard Quantum tint, except front windshield.
I use 50% all arround and just the rear window with a darker tint. I got light tint because I don't want to hide the nice interior of my car just add some protection to the leather.
Remember that the car comes with a very very light factory tint so if you get a 35% for cops you would have like 28% which is not legal.
I don't like when front and rear windows looks different.
I paid $140.00 lifetime garantee, here in Puerto Rico tinting is not so expensive.
Also if you can find HuperOptik tint would be great it is ceramic base tint although is very expensive.

Re: Help Me Tint My Car!

Here's my DP sedan with 38% Formula One metallic tint on the doors and 30% on the rear windshield. The day was overcast so the tint looks darker than it usually does.

I was also parked side by side with a willow/black G sedan, that had a tint lighter than mine and it looked really nice! I've started associating dark tints with ricer-rides; whenever you see a Civic/Accord/Eclipse/IS with rims, spoiler, ground effects etc., the tints are normally dark as hell. The lighter tints look a little classier IMO.

Formula One has 30%, 38% and 50%...I suggest 50% on the doors and 30% on the rear glass.

humnukupua...

here are some better pics of the formula one 38%. These pics represent the way the tint looks in direct sunlight at 6:30pm (sunset is at 7:45).

Re: Help Me Tint My Car!

I am going to be tinting mine in the next few days...still looking for a reputable company and tint i like.

Kalifornia: As far as I have heard, you can tint as dark as you want from shoulder back, as long as you have two side mirrors (G35 - CHECK!)

Any tint to the windshield is illegal. Anything on the driver or passengers doors MUST be factory, or it is illegal.

But hell, I'm supposed to have a front license plate too! That's why God invented fix-it tickets. I'm sure if you roll by the police or sheriff yard, their vehicles are questionable too. They just use the tinting for profiling...they look the other way when you have the wife and kids in the car and you keep it 72 and under (or keep up with traffic)

Re: Help Me Tint My Car!

I have 15% on the front and Limo in the back. No problems yet. I even drove cross country from Cal to Tx and back. I had mine tinted professionally and the sales person mentioned the same about the police; they tend to nab the teenagers or those drawing attention to their cars. Another trick; when I am around police, I open my sunroof to let more light in (after dark, it doesn't matter anyway).
