Zaino: 2005 DG Coupe

I just took some pictures of my 2005 DG Coupe. I decided to give zaino a try. I ordered the basic kit-1 and went to work.

The process I used was:

wash with dawn, dry, claybar, wash with Z7, dry, Z5, Z6, sleep overnight, rewash z7, dry, Z5, Z6, Z2, Z6, Z2, Z6, take a nap.

I'm mixed about the process. I literally started at 11am saturday and finished 6pm Sunday night. I did take breaks obviously, and since i left the car overnight, i rewashed with Z7 sunday morning. I would say that I'm happy with the results however, I'm sure u could get similar results with a easier product. I sure as f**k hope this stuff last like they say because I dont think I can do this again anytime soon.

Zaino is awesome. There are other products that are easier to use, but (for me) Zaino is a 3 times per year application. It may take a while when you're doing it, but annual time spent waxing is much lower.

Looks great! But I can't help but wonder if similar results can be obtained more easily. So far I've wacked my car with NXT, but have a set of Zaino products sitting here for the next detailing day. Is the Zaino really worth it? Based on people's feedback, I'm not so sure. But I'm willing to give it a try.

zaino is great for a outdoors car since it lasts a long time, if i garaged my car, i'd maybe consider other options

Seeing as you already said it, I am hoping this does not offend you, but I am thinking you could have gotten similar results with many other products. That being said, I am not a huge Zaino fan but have come to respect it lately. I have some on a coworkers daily driver. It looks just as good as anything else going on but then the trick starts. It STILL looks good weeks and months later and still beads. Its durability is incredible. I think you will be happy when you see how long it lasts. On my cars, I usually want to reapply something almost weekly so the Zaino just does not make sense in that case.

Somewhat related...a lot of people complain about the multistep Zaino process of removing old wax, etc. This is not really Zaino-specific but instead Zaino felt the need to bring the "proper" technique of quality surface prep and such into the light. While it takes a bit longer to properly prepare the surface, I feel that the results are worth it.

Another nice thing about Zaino is once you've done the prep you won't need to do it again assuming you stick with Zaino. In 4-6 months when it's time to re-apply all you'll need to do (assuming you don't polish), is wash then apply one layer of Z2, and you're good to go for another 4-6 months.

That said I agree with Scott - you can get similar results much easier, but the trade-off is having to do the application more often.

^^+1 WTS...I totally agree on the longevity of the shine. I was told this by my G friends about how long the Zaino shine lasts. After the past winter I totally agree, the car cleans up so easy and still seems to maintain that nice shine. I can hardly wait till it warms up enough to give my car the Zaino treatment again .

Exactly, thats my reasoning. The product isnt necessarily deeper looking than a good polish / wax, but it wont evaporate like wax causing u to have to reapply every 1-2 months.

I've applied Zaino twice in one year and I believe that I could have gotten similar results. The shine is all the same and other waxes and sealents. However, one positive thing about Zaino is the durability and long lasting effect. I'm hesistant about spending anymore $$ on Zaino and might look to other cheaper waxes.

Welcome to the Zaino club. By using the Z6 to finish when you wash the car, and Z8 instead of Z6 once a month-month and a half or so, you'll only need to do the big job once a year, if that. I just came back from a visit to one of the CDN distributors, where we discussed Z8, which prior to its public release, he has been assisting Zaino test for a couple years in our colder, grimier climes. Without letting the cat out of the bag, let's just say that the Z8 will extend the time between full polishes substantially. Substantially.

Cheers,
D
