When I bought mine, they told me I would have to make an app't. for oil change in order to get a loaner. I haven't gotten my first oil change yet, but I'm sure I can get a loaner if I need it.

I get a loaner everytime I get my oil changed. I can even keep it over night. It's nice to drop the car off at 7:30, get to work at 8:15 and pick my car up over my lunch break. No downtime.

I do agree that if you are nice to the dealers, they will, in return, be nice to you. I called my local dealer, asked if I can buy touch-up paint and pay by credit card over the phone and pick it up after hours. Since I get home after the service dept. is close, they let me do that, all for two bottles of touch-up. When I picked them up, I thank the people for being nice and asked the service guys if I can get on a mailing list so I can get some specials. One thing lead to another, we kept chatting and he offered me the 7500 miles tune-up for free (I guess it usually costs $149). I took advantage of that this past weekend, got a loaner car, and they made sure everything was done at 6 pm on Saturday (I dropped it off at 1 pm). So, I say sometimes saying "thanks" really do go a long way. I asked them to take a look at the sunroof, checked my aligment, and creaking of the chair. They oiled the sunroof (per TSB), the alignmnet came back within specs, but the creaking sound they couldn't duplicate (it only creaks over really bad roads). I, of course, declined the car wash. Just for that, I may even try to go there and get my oil change and asked for a loaner and see what they say.

Nice to your dealer?

I do agree that if you are nice to the dealers, they will, in return, be nice to you.
I spent $35K on my Infiniti. I don't owe them anything else. They will be nice to me regardless of whether or not I service my car there. I keep my receipts and have ALL of the services done on time and with Infiniti OEM parts. I've purchased 3 consecutive Nissan/Infiniti cars and have made a $500/mo payment to them since 1996. Sorry, but that's all they're getting from me. I save 50% on oil changes and up to 60% for 30/60/90K mile check-ups. Add that up over the course of 10-20 years and see what you come up with. The results are staggering.

I'm not dissing those who service their car at the dealership. Hey, if you've got the money, it's convenient for you, and/or it helps you sleep better at night, GO FOR IT. Just don't feel guilted into it by those crooks. I've been in sales for over 10 years and I know the games they play.

my dealership will give me a loaner for anything i take my car up there for... whether it will take 10 minutes or 10 days..... If they told you you will get an infiniti, you get one period end of story. I can understand someone not wanting to wait an hour... even if its just to go run around and do errands or something, its an hour of doing something productive vs doing nothing at all for an hour.... i REALLY understand if you have to drop it off and then go to work and pick it up later.

Hear, hear. If I wanted to spend big money on a car and get crapped on by the dealer, I would have bought a Corvette.

A loaner for an oil change, though... isn't that a bit excessive?

3) you would probably have had an office boy to drop off your car for you
you could also try
1) not being such a cry baby and try to rage war at ur dealership cuz they told u they dont give out loaner cars for 1hr (which is very understandable)
2) try to be friendlier to the help... when ur nice to them, they will do you more services just becuz they like you... a smile and asking them how their weekend was doesnt hurt anyone.. and believe me they appreciate it..
at my dealership, I'm super nice with everyone.. when they do super excellent work on my car, I always bring them a lil something as a thank you.. like a bottle of Vodka, or some sweets.. you'd be surprised how much they appreciate it..
Waaaaaahhhhh, I have an office chick but she doesn't drive stick . Take it easy dude, I never said I was going to be a d*ck, and no I wouldn't be surprised, I've done it many times when it's warranted. All I ask is that people follow through on their promises. If they don't give loaners for oil changes then the salesperson should say that up front instead making empty promises that the service manager gets the flack for. My wife has a Lexus and they ALWAYS give a loaner car. When you go to a premium brand dealer (and the reason I'm going is because I have 3 years for free, well not free, I paid for it up front at a discounted rate) you should get better service (at least customer service) than the Nissan/Toyota dealership. The truth of the matter is, I've had better service from the Toyota dealership than the Lexus dealership.

How much profit does everyone think is in an oil change???? Get a loaner for an oil change, any loaner, let alone an Infiniti???

Totally absurd.

***IF*** your sales guy told you that you get one, I hope you got it in writing - I'm doubting it, though. From www.infiniti.ca:

http://www.infiniti.ca/en/general/ownership/toe.html

"As an Infiniti driver, you will enjoy useful services like 24-hour Roadside Assistance (including Trip Interruption Services), and a free Infiniti Service Loaner Vehicle for pre-arranged warranty appointments."

Here is the US link:

http://www.infiniti.com/content/0,,sctid-52104,00.html

"That's why participating dealers make every effort to ensure you'll enjoy a complimentary Service Loan Car while your vehicle is in for a warranty repair."

Last time I checked, an oil change is not "warranty repair".

Believe it or not, but some sales people will lie during a sale - it's up to you to have it in writing.

I'm sure there are some exceptions, but that's entirely up to the dealer and his relationship with an individual customer.

Hopefully you got it in writing, although I don't really know what sort of recourse you would have, short of threatening to buy elsewhere in the future. Seeing as this is your first service, I'm guessing you're going to keep the car for a while, so they won't really care about that at this point - they will drop to their knees when you are in the market again, though.

I dont think dealerships are required to lend you a car for a oil change...maybe if you schedule weeks beforehand. I just know I wouldnt expect it.

Try doing the changes yourself...you'd be done by the time it takes to drive there, paperwork, and drive home.
