hi i am new to this forum. i tried searching for my problem but i could not find it. i have a black g35, and i was told that it was better to wax with the paint, so in this case in lines. this is due to waxing in swirls, it will show up in the paint. can someone clear this up for me? thanks.

 

Generally the idea is to move the same way the wind would flow over the car - so ya, in lines rather than in circular motions.

 

It took me a while to believe it, but straight lines are the only way to go. This applies to wash, waxing, drying, etc. It really takes some time to break yourself of the circular application technique.

You always want to wax/wash/etc... the way the grain of the car's paint flows.

You mean you can't tell which direction the paint was layed down!!! LOL

 

As explained to me by our Zaino guys here north of the border, the lines should all be perpendicular to the ground (front-back on the horizontal surfaces). It is not how the paint is laid down, but how your eye will observe it. As I stated in some other posts, the notion is the same as the principle behind polarized sunglasses. If you run horizontally (like the airflow over the car), then on the sides of the car, the horizontal lines will reflect the horizontal component of the light, and be caught by your eye (= bad). By being at right angles to that light component from the sun's glare, your work will not be noticed, as nothing will reflect from it, so your straight lines, "up and down (front to back on hood, roof, and trunklid)" will go unnoticed.

I really don't understand where some of our members
get their information? WTF does how the paint was
laid on have anything to do with swirls? Never go to
a car wash, that's half of the battle. Never apply
cleaner in circles. Use only quality products and
follow directions...aka...read the lable. LOL

Right on. Horizontal surfaces should be front to back, vertical surfaces should be top to bottom.

All of the tips at Zaino could have saved me years of hard effort that yeilded only mediocre results. With Zaino products and their tips, it's now minimal effort with outstanding, show-quality results.
