Can I was my car with Cotton instead of Microfiber
Can I was my car with Cotton instead of Microfiber
Ok guys. I finally got my Zaino kit in the mail and I also recieved my microfiber towels. I ordered 3 microfiber wash mitts and a CA Water Blade from autogeek, but it's gonna take almost another week to get here and I am anxious to start washing my car tonite.
My Question, can I was my car with a 100% Terry Cloth Towel instead or should I wait for the microfiber wash mitts?
I called Pep Boys and they said they didnt sell any microfiber wash mitts. Where else can I get one locally?
Thanks guys

i would stay away from the waterblade. after i soap up the car and rinse it off, i take off the bulk of the water w/ an absorber. you can readily find those in pep boys. make sure than when you use it, you keep debris off of it. after taking off a bulk of the water, i follow it up w/ a microfiber towel. this process becomes much easier after you zaino. i only use 100% made in the usa cotton towels when it comes to taking the zaino off. after that, everything goes into the washer.
if you insist on using the blade, make sure that it is absolutely clean and that you apply absolutely no pressure. if you are a newb when it comes to detailing (not saying that you are), i would prefer that you stay away from the water blade.

heh, sorry about that. i suppose if the wash mit is 100% clean, then you should be ok. personally i just use a natural sponge, but then again i don't apply much pressure. the key here is to try your hardest not to use anything to scratch the surface of the car.
ultimately you need to make sure that your mitt/towels don't keep any debris in the between wipes. again personally i would use a sponge, as i can see how a towel can keep loose debris in between it's fibers.

Re: Can I was my car with Cotton instead of Microfiber
All my towels are microfiber. I use four for each wash: one for washing, one for bulk drying (ringing it out periodically), and one for final drying. The last one I keep inside the car for spot touch ups (inside and out).
