Tape residue on paint

Hi everyone,

What's the safest best way to remove tape residue from a small section of my paint (brilliant Silver). I had the back end painted at one point and the body shop did a lousy job of taping the mask on...
It's on the passenger side rear view mirror...

There plenty of products for this purpose. I use Stoner's Tarminator. It does wonders on road tar, tree sap, etc. It was perfect for the residual adhesive residue when I was debadging. It should cut through tape adhesive like a hot knife on butter.

Tarminator is good. Poorboy's Bug Squash is also great for lighter stuff like tape residue. I usually lean towards that on most jobs due to it's mild nature. With any of these, be sure to re-apply your sealant after using them.

Has the tape residue already hardened? One time, we left some masking tape on the paint of a car and the sun had baked the tape glue onto the paint. We used WD40 (believe it or not). Sprayed it on a rag, gently rubbed the glue and it came right off. Washed the area with soap and water, and it came out looking like it never happened. This was on an 01 Acura CL-S.

Orange citrus products are also good.

Just remember to try on a small spot first before doing the whole thing. You never know how it'll react with the paint. I don't think it'll affect anything, but better to be safe than sorry.
