woops. need some advise
hey guys...noticed a smell in my cabin and after lookin around in the trunk my zaino z6 (detailing spray) had opened up and i lost nearly a whole bottle!
unfortunately it also got all over my california car duster....and it leaves a bit of a residue on the car when i tried to use it.
any suggestions:
trash it?
clean it? and if so, how
let it try and dry more?
thanks guys

Actually the cali duster isn't that great for your car. I used to use one until Matt from Detailing Dynamics said something that is very true. The cali duster states that the DIRTIER it gets, the BETTER it works....
Well when you think about it, do you want more and more dirt being draggin across your car? I know with my black G....I try to avoid. Obvioulsy lighter colors can get away with a lil more.
Now to answer your question I would say soak the cali duster in a bucket of car wash solution for a lil bit, give it a good rinse, and allow to airdry somewhere where it won't be touch the ground etc.

I agree with Diesel1 about the Cali duster. I would personally throw it away and buy a new bottle of quick detailer. If your car is dusty, quick detailer and microfiber towels are your friends.

i see what you're saying, and i do know that the cali duster isnt that great...but with brilliant silver, i havent seen any problems.
as for using a quick detailer on a dusty (in other words-slightly dirty car) then you're just smearing everything thats there with the towel....
i would think in that situation at least the duster "kind of" pics up the dust, where a quick detailer with towel would just smear it around worse....
note: i always use a quick detailer after washing

If you're worried about smearing the dust around you might want to try a waterless wash product like Poorboys Spray and Wipe - I wouldn't use it on more than a light dusting (same as a cali duster), but for that purpose it works very well. It's the same idea behind true waterless washes in that it is very high lubricity, so it lifts the dust off the paint as you wipe. Obviously it's important to use many mf's when doing this.
Just an idea. I use it all the time on my car (which is black), and it works well.
