Hi

My first post so brieftly, FYI, I bought an 06MT G35 coupe, black, sports, premium and aero.

I've followed another thread about not letting the dealer clean your car... makes sense...

But I need some advice on how to clean it well and what products. I'm not a total idiot but I've just come over from living in the UK so all the products are different and I don't even know where to shop for them!

Thanks for any tips!

I use Meguiars NXT Wash and also use the NXT Wax. I dry the car with an 'Absorber' towel. I"d buy a couple of those and use just one for the car and the other for the tires. They will last you a while.

Most people here will go with Zaino but I do like the way NXT shines on my car.

i haven't checked those links yet but you will find a TON of good tips on cleaning your car on this site.

some quick things i can tell you since you own a black car:
- you may already know but black cars will show all types of scratches, imperfections, etc more than any other color. it's a love hate thing. there's no way around swirl marks, etc. - learn to accept it or else you will never be able to enjoy your car.
- when you wash/wax, make sure your wash mitt and wax applicators are as clean as possible. i usually rinse them pretty frequently during washing/waxing. while you can't avoid swirl marks, you can certainly try your best to minimize them.

enjoy the car!

oh yeah, also use Wheel Wax on your wheels. Best stuff out there.

I'd check out Autopia and invest in a PC7424 DAP. Also, swirls are an inevitable thing on black cars so pick up some 3m, DACP, FPII, or SSR 2.5 <-- all abrasive polishes. I like the way NXT looks on black as well, but after using S100 after the Klasse twins, I don't think I will ever switch back.
