Looking for a second car

I'm currently hunting for a second car, might try and pick one up this coming weekend. For the G, I financed through the dealership. I'm thinking about trying to get preapproved for financing through a credit union to bring to the dealership. I need to join a credit union. My question is...does anyone know the timeline from opening an account at a credit union, and getting preapproved for a loan?

I got financied through Chase and they got me a better deal than I could find through DATCU....

My ex went through DATCU and didn't have to open an account until they actually wrote the loan, and even then it was only a savings account that they auto withdrew her payment from...Should be same day type service...

Let me know if you want the number for my contact at Chase...

I currently bank with Chase, but go ahead and shoot me your contact. According to bankrate.com they currently have a rate of 6.14% with .25% discount for auto draft. Prime right now is 6%, so i'm going to try and negotiate with them a bit.

I'm looking at a Toyota RAV4...sorry A.

Elsa at Las Colinas credit union hooked me up... they have great rates i think mine is like 5.25 or someting like that... much lower than the dealership could do...and all i had to do was open an account with 25 dollars that same day and apply for the loan... only took like 3 days max...
