Spacer Help

Hey Guys!
Does anyone know who would be willing to help a bro out and help me install a 1/2" Plenum Spacer. It looks kinda simple but dont wana screw anything up!! Dont mind paying some cash/food/beer/etc

The first thing I can tell you about this install is that you need an inch-pound torque wrench. I'm going to be replacing the upper & lower gaskets on mine pretty soon but I'm going to borrow the inch-pound torque wrench to make sure the bolts are torqued correctly this time ... I get some oil seepage due to the supercharger and the lack of an oil catch can...

and thats the only reason i was like you know what let me not screw up my car when i was reading the instructions and it was like use a inch-pound torque wrench lol but thank you guys!!!!

its not hard to do...i can help out on the weekends...when you add your spacer its a good time to clean your throttle body and change your plugs since the plenum is off making it easier to get to the rear plugs

I did mine this past weekend. Pretty easy all-in-all. My only advice: Disconnect the coolant lines that go to the TB as you pull the upper off, and reconnect them before you bolt anything on. There is one that is a PITA to get to. I also missed one putting everything back on and spewed about a gallon of coolant on my garage floor (yeah, I'm guessing you don't want my help now). I am too busy to help right now anyway, but if you have any questions let me know.

Oh, I also stripped one of the small studs in the upper plenum (using a 4mm 6-point socket), which was not a big deal because it was replaced as part of the install (there are 2 of these, once came out no problem the other stripped right away).

Also, why do you really need an inch-pounds torque wrench? I followed the Inifinit specs and nothing was less than 6.3 N-m (about 5 ft-lb). I have a craftsman that does 5-85 N-m (I use N-m). Did I miss someting? I have both torque wrenches, but I did not see anything that really required the in-lb (I justed checked again and did not see anything in the Power Lab instructions or the Inifiniti Tech Manual). It only looks like removal of the TB would require an in-lb wrench. I have attached the page from the Infiniti Tech Manual for your viewing pleasure.

If you look at the install directions for the Motordyne plenum spacer, they are very specific about using an inch-pounds torque wrench: http://www.motordyneengineering.com/manual.pdf

Thanks for the tips/advice guys !!!! I was reading the instructions the other day and to be honest it really does not look that hard to do!! Im gona give it a shot prob not this week but the next and if i run into any trouble i will give u a buzz firefox cuz ur like 2 min away from my house lol Live in Virginia and Custer. naw but i will let yall know. And John im gona take u on the offer of the inch-pounds torque wrench bc i dont have one.

Ahh.... That makes sense, I don't have the Motordyne (I went the Power Lab). Torque specs are the by-product of the type of hardware used (material type/threads/etc) and the material type/thread type it is secured to, so I can see why it may vary slightly. It does seem like Motordyne put a little more thought and time into the instructions. Either way, no big deal. I don't seem to have any leaks or any stripped hardware.

My only complaint is that the Power Lab did not list out the specific hoses to disconnect and reconnect, and I missed one. That was just as much my fault, but if it would have said "Make sure to reconnect all 4 hoses" I would not have missed the one that is impossible to see with the upper Plenum on.
I work for a robotics and automation company, and one of my jobs is to issue service bulletins to our field guys. Things like this are the things that always get over-looked. Good instrucions list every step....

The most important part of the install is to read and understand all the instructions before starting.

If you get that down, the install should go easy without any hitches.

Nice work on your insrtuctions, very professional. I also noticed you covered how to get the guides/studs out of the lower plenum (I had this problem and it was not covered in the Power Lab instructions).
