Big Daddy DVatz got himself a Nissan!

Dare I say, it's a VQ30? Yep, I got a 2000 Maxima SE 5sp. Purty sweet. Now, for direction on the car...

BlueBOB, Mr. Uy, this is where I call on you for help! What forums do you recommend? I know DNE has one, but I can't recall where it is. I think I had trouble signing on to it once.

Oh, and if you guys have some spare parts you're getting rid of, please, let me know!

http://www.nissanforums.com/dallas-nissan-enthusiasts/ is the full address.

Your best friend will be maxima.org I learned a ton from that site, and used its excellent step by step directions for a 3.5 swap in my old 4th gen

Thanks, Adam. I believe I've made the necessary changes. I'll check out Maxima.org. DNE seems to have some familiar faces in the main page pic!

Lol yeah, from the Nissan of Mckinny car show, that was back in my 240sx days BlueBob was missing a corner light on his G if I remember correctly and still won second place

Congrats again on the car, I saw the listing and it looks sweet! When you getting yourself a Y-pipe?

Hey thanks! I'll be getting that Y-pipe once I get the sweet hookup. But first, the shocks/struts need to be replaced. They are awful. I'm thinking of going with low budget Tokico HP Blues for now. What do you think?

There's no way I paid $7k for it... I got the car for $5k flat, though I think I should have gotten it for $4500. Oh well, it's a great car and I still think I got a great deal!

Nice catch 'ol chap! It's about time you're back in the game, now you have a way to bring that Trek around with you!

I had them on my 4th Gen also (with Eibach springs), and I thought they were OK. Some people seem to not to like them, but they were cool for me.....

I also think 5k is a GOOD deal.

Sorry, the Trek is gone. I traded it for my down payment on the Maxima.

Ah, a maxima in the group... berry nice...

Yes, tokico blue are great and you'll love em. Have them on my 4th gen now. If you care to lower, go with Maxspeed. Not as drastic of a drop and still have a pretty good ride quality.

In regards to mods, y-pipe will be the greatest mod ever on it. Makes a WORLD of difference. From there, there's not an extreme amount. Exhaust, intake, pulleys, etc (the usual stuff).

The motor you are running is the VQ30DEK. The difference between your motor and the one in my maxima is the K designation that represented the better flowing upper intake manifold and a little more aggressive cams (not by much). A lot of 4th gen guys like to get the exhaust cam from a 5th gen.

One small little irritation I personally have with the 00-01 is the fact that it's the only two years the model didn't have window roll down by holding the unlock button. From 95 to today, they all do it except the 00 and 01. What the hell were they thinking... I have no idea.

Hit me up if you have any questions about the maxima. Learned everything I know from either the ORG (maxima.org) or just changin stuff myself.
