I know that's what we are both worried about.

Oh well I guess that is what insurance is for right.

We called the police and told them all the BS that has been going on lately in our complex and all the shady people that are starting to move in. They have increased patrols to the complex. I have to take my hat off to the Irving Police, they do a very good job!

Anyway, you did the right thing and just ignored him. He was covering his own embarrassed a$$ in front of the lady.
+1 on D's part....I've lived in Las Colinas for a couple of years and to be sarcastically funny...I think my property n my G would feel safer in S Irving...my property is turning ghetto as well and can't wait to move in a couple of months.

What apartment complexes do you both live in? Are you both north or south of 635?

I have to give Irving PD credit too, they stood by when my garage was broken into 3 times and the night i chased the thieves through my parking lot. Irving PD officers searched the whole complex until they found them both. They got some good cops around this area and respond REALLY quickly. I called the police while chasing the thieves on foot and 3 units arrived in less than 5 minutes!

I seriously want to go handgun shopping soon, its about time i own one, especially after my garage break-in incidents a while ago.
H&K .40cal or Glock 23C w/ ported barrel.. perfect for concealment. hehehehehehe..

I think that what a lot of people are experiencing w/ the increase in "south irving" population moving north is people losing their homes due to foreclosure or readjusted arms and those apartments close to where they can live are already full. This forces people to move further and further north. Or, they're already used to house payment, which is similar to the price of "northern living" so they "splurge".

I've had the EXACT same thing happen to me though when I lived in my condo in Richardson many years ago(prior to my G).. I went outside to go to to the gym one evening after work, and a dude was sitting on my hood, not leaning, but SITTING on my hood w/ his feet up on my front bumper and I was ENRAGED.. I kindly asked him to get off of my car, and dude copped an attitude w/ ME.. He SLID all the way off of my hood and left an imprint, aka DENT to where when he moved, it POPPED back in place.. That did it..

As he walked off, I yelled, "I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't sit on my car again, go sit on your own SHI-"

2 weeks later, I was awakened by a call from the cops asking if my car's license plate was XXX-XXX because they just found it stripped in East Dallas. I ran outside to see my car allarm "uninstalled" and laying on the curb and they left the tool they used right next to it...

I fully believe in protect your property.. But people are crazy man.. You have to think if it's really worth it.. In the end, it's all just "things".. And they can be replaced..

You handled it extremely well. I don't think that I could have said something so calmly. But then if a girl would have said something, he prob wouldn't have been so defensive. Some people just have no respect for other people property.

On the weapon issue, from a legal standpoint, you should only unholster your weapon if you intend to use it. Meaning you or or family feel threatened (by either a gun, knife, a much larger person, or a person that retains deadly skills such as Karate) in any way my another or someone is stealing your property. However, in the great state of Texas, if an unwelcomed person is on your property you may "defend" if they refuse to leave or have been warned (such as no trespassing sign). Obviously, an apartment complex would be contraversial.
