Car lost power and it felt like I was running out of gas..
I was driving on the freeway today going about 65 and the car all of a sudden felt like it was running out of gas. (2004 6MT Coupe Stillen cold air, JWT clutch and flywheel)
I would push the gas pedal and I had no power. It was very intermittant (it would have great power one second then the next noting)
The car never completly died and I was able to make it off of the freeway. Once I got off the freeway the car started acting completly normal, and it has not happened since (put about 10 miles on it since)
I had about 1/4 tank of gas and judging my my previous mileage logs about 70miles left on that tank of gas. When I pulled over I went ahead and filled the car with gas.
Has anyone else ever had this issue? The car has 80,000 miles on it and I do have an extended warranty which is looking like its about to get some good use.

Did you get any CEL? The only time my car did something similar was when my throttle position sensor (TPS) went bad on my 2005 Nissan 350Z 6MT. But my car only had about 7000 miles on it. My car suddenly loss power driving it through a parking lot. I shut it off and turned it back on and ran fine but i did have the CEL still on. Took it to the dealer and got a new throttle body.
The only other thing i can think it might be is the MAF sensor. Have you cleaned it recently?
+1 on the extended warranty. I've had door locks, wheel hubs, and my valve body go bad...all replaced for free!

Well the car did it again today. The same exact symptoms.
The main thing that was the same this time as was last time is that I had about 1/4 tank of gas. I was able to limp the car to a gas station. (I could not take it over 2000RPMs in 1st)
Once I put gas in the car it was perfectly fine. My buddy who is a mechanic is going to take a look at it this weekend before I go and spend $100 on my warranty deductable.
We are going to replace the fuel filter, but he said that his bet is that the fuel pump is starting to go.

The only reason I doubt the fuel pump is the fact that your problem would be more intermittent and the details of your problem sound to specific to be something mechanical. By that I mean, I would guess that the computer is detecting the problem and limiting you specifically to a low RPM.
And aren't the fuel filters in the gas tank as well?

$100 deductible is better than losing power on the highway and not being able to get off to the side in time and getting hit!
Talk to Brad at Grubbs and he'll take care of you. He's probably the best service advisor I've ever dealt with.
