Need dfw g's help/advice!

Well, guys. Looks like I may be at a crossroads. I believe my G is experiencing the Oil Consumption issue in a big way. I will be taking it to Infiniti next week to find out what can be done, but I assume since I am out of warranty that I will need to either get a new engine or a new car.....

Here's a link to my other thread with the entire issue detailed:

https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...ml#post4638282

Anyway, what I would like to know is if there is anyone in the DFW area, or even as far as Houston that builds engines that are reliable and majority free from this issue. I know I could just buy a stock longblock, but I don't want this issue coming around again. Plus, as with most of us, if I am going to spend money on my car, I would love to get a few extra HPs out of it and I would assume that a built engine could show me a little bit of extra love.....

Please let me know whatever info you guys have.

German @ GS Motorsports can do it. He just replaced a stock VQ motor into G35Strongman's car. He can build one too if so desired. He's done a few forced induction builds as well. He can take care of everything for you.

Thanks man. I will check that out.

Any idea of price? Not wanting to spend too much, but don't want a cheap way out either. This came at the worst time, as I am trying to close on a home and all my funds are tied up.....

Not needing an extreme increase, but 50-100hp would be the max I would want to look into.

Price is totally dependant on what you want done. A low mileage used motor installed will be several thousand. If you wanted some cams on top of that expect another thousand or more. If you want some higher compression pistons even more.

So sounds like I should just cut my losses and get something new.....

FML!

Any idea how to clear CEL and other lights without totally fixing the problem so as to not lower the value of my car as a potential trade-in? lol

Weather you should cut your losses is really up to how much you want to spend. Sometimes its just better to repair and be done with it, instead of saying "well since i'm in there, might as well upgrade" The upgrades may easily end up doubling or tripling your budget.

Yeah, its the mod bug. Doesn't allow me to see the obvious answer before me sometimes.

So if I was looking to install a stock longblock, would I not be opening myself up to the possibility of the Oil Consumption issue recurring? Or is there no way around it?

The oil consumption issue was not for every model year version of the VQ engine. Jut get one that is not form the years that showed this issue. you can get a longblock for about 1200 to 1500. Give German a call and see how much it would be to install it so you can figure out how much this will actually cost. also talk to Chris, he blew his FI engine and had to buy a new one and get it swapped in.

Speaking of oil consumption...just did an oil change over the weekend and only one quart of oil came out. YIKES May have been cheap oil though, as I bought an oil change special from Autozone.

My 2003 G35 coupe had 150K miles when it started eating 2-3 quarts of oil every 5K miles. The last 40K miles I have been using Valvoline Full Synthetic, mistake stick to Mobile 1. I didn't monitor it good enough, so at 172K miles it died.

My engine (67K miles) cost $1870 (1 year unlimited mile warranty) shipped to Geman from the website below. Talk to Daniel, he will match your year and find you an engine.

http://www.lowmileageengines.com/

I alreadey have 4K miles on my replacement engine, no problems.

GS Motorsports can change out the motor in 1 to 2 days.
