[DFW] What have you done to your G Today?
no sir - they are going to see the powdercoater this wk though.. I will post pics when Im done.. trust..
My oil was changed 1,000 miles ago and i hear my valves chattering... Even my dipstick looks ok, thats why im really confused/pissed. Ugh
oh boy. been there done that, no fun. all the best Trix.
stupid question, but how much and what kind of oil are you using? what oil did you use in the break in period? how long did you break it in? how did you drive it during that period?
I was talking to Trix by PM and he told me they replaced only shortblock. Sounds like he needs a complete long block or at least a complete heads/cams setup. Are you still consuming oil or just noise up top.
based on what I knew of the oil consumption issue was that it was primarily due to cheap rings which would be included in both a long and short block... when you're breaking in a new motor, synthetic oil isn't the best. the rings needs to set and it's best if your first two oil changes (at 1,500 miles and again at 3,000 miles) should be regular motor oil. you really don't need to go beyond 3k miles for a break in period and you can go over 4k rpm after that first 1,500 because you don't want a wear line in your cylinders, you just don't want to WOT it above 4k rpms... it's best to go full RPM quite a few times during that period, just not at full throttle...
hopefully your new motor isn't bad, but the varying opinions on the break in period surprise me... it's like the crazy random methods for getting the hiccups to go away

Infiniti gave me the long-block and gave it in writing as well.
They told me, dont worry about the break-in period, drive however you like, lol, but i kept it below 4k rpm for the first 2800 miles, did a oil change then and hit it full throttle.
