4l60e or 4l80e requires some extra modules to perform the automatic functionality...t56 are still expensive trannys...I can get a TH400 built for around 900-1000 3 speed automatic which does require the trans modules for the computer so I am still up in the air...I know I would have to cut into the firewall to add the Pedal assembly in order to convert over to a t56 setup...this is what I really want to do and force myself to learn it all.

That truly did make me laugh out loud when I read that question. "Learning" on a T56 might not be the best idea... especially one I'm sure you're going to throw tons of money into

agreed which steers me away from it........I can get into the TH400 pretty cheap and rebuilts on them are very easy.
nah man I needed an SUV and I have always wanted to get a new TAHOE....I found a 240 on ebay with LS swap already done that has t56...guy wants around 6k for it.....
Well, the G is a good learning car, but the G tranny isn't a good standard to compare to. I've always thought of the G tranny as a "video game" style. Though, if you don't rev match well, the G definitely lets you know about it. Unlike the Subaru's that are more forgiving in that aspect, but take nearly all your strength to push the clutch down haha
I learned in High school with my 2 friends and me. We threw down $350 per person and picked up a used manual 1989 toyota camry and ragged the crap out of it and learned how to drive a manual. Later on picked up a brand new 08 crossfire 6 spd and loved it dearly but had to give it up for a back seat. The G35 is the wonkiest of all manual vehicles I have owned or driven but still not hard to get use to once you learn the quirks. Pick up a $2000 civic (or any other cheap standard vehicle )and drive around town till you feel like you either want to switch manual or stick with auto. I personally prefer less power but having precise control of that power via 6 seperate gears and choose which one gear I want to be in versus a computer deciding what is best for me.
