Anyone have experience with the window motor repair??

Hey guys - Do any of you have experience with repairing the window motor that we all seem to eventually suffer from? My passenger side just starting going on the fritz. I can still hear it trying to roll up/down, but the window moves very slowly. If I go over a bump it will work a little better (which I beleive is due to the fact that the bump clears out some of the buildup in the motor, right?)

If anyone who has fixed this before wouldn't mind helping me, I would appreciate it! Obviously I would throw in some of whatever your incentive happens to be (beer, $$$, .....wait, no, just beer or $$).

Thanks guys!

Its tedious -

Get the ones from OREILLY vs just cleaning it - cleaning it fixes it for a few months...then your back to square one..

sux cause they are not cheap..( at least to me they are not )

not really that hard to take apart and clean out the carbon, and could save some money in the cost of a new motor if cleaning out the carbon fixes it....several DIY on here....

I'm seeing conflicting opinions here - will cleaning it out not last? I had the car for almost 2 years (and I'm the second owner, so really it has been much longer) and it just now started. Obviously I don't want to take it out every month to clean it, but again it is the passenger window - I rarely roll that window down unless someone else is in the car.

I'll check out the DIY's and see how tough it is. Hopefully I could just take out the motor from the door panel and put the panel back on until I get the motor cleaned out.

Thanks for the DIY Chris, I'll check it out.

I cleaned mine and it was good for about 6-7 months. some people have cleaned there's and its still working. Its all hit or miss honestly. I can knock out the whole thing in about 2 hours.

its a temp fix - why not just replace it vs cleaning the carbon off...then having to do it again in a few months...?

Guess if your broke or too busy blowing cash on "other mods"....then yes - cleaning it can be helpful..

^ "Other mods" would be the operative reason hahaha...though you're right, I always believe in long-term fixes as versus temporary ones. However, wont a new motor eventually just have the same issue (albeit further down the road)? Or has Infiniti resolved the issue with a revised motor?

My humble 2 cents....get the one from O'Reilly....(thnks guys..didn't know they carried the motor).....I just did the clean on mine and it was working like new over and Sunday it started to mess up again...so yes, it's hit or miss...

If you want to just try to clean it first I'll be more than happy to help you out. Chris has helped me out in the past so the least I can do is pass on the G favor...

ah see - the truth comes out - Ive had mine in for a yr and half with no issues -

Also let me tell you this - any motor you get from Oreilly or any other place - is just a refurb..

Yes VV - you are correct - it will happen again however I prefer to do mine once every 2 yrs or so vs every 3-6 mos.. its tedious work - I dont have the time to mess with the little BS..
