Freakin Sucks!
I haven't ridin my bike in a while so I took it out yesterday for a short ride. I was on the hwy coming up to my exit when the cars in front of me started to brake and then they all really braked hard. I was going about 75mph I guess. I was in the right lane. I applied my brakes and started to feel them lock up a bit so I just moved into the shoulder so I didn't run into the back of the car in front of me and then get back over. The moment I make my move onto the shoulder all the while I'm braking I see a rock the size of a Softball!!! There is no evasive action I could have taken that wouldn't have resulted in me dropping the bike so I just keep going and hoped for the best. I run right over the rock and hear a big bang and the sound of some air coming out. I'm thinking the tire blew. I keep going on the shoulder and seems to feel okay but I knew something is not right. I get up to my exit and turn off and pull over. As I'm slowing down I feel the bike hoping up and down so I think the tire is flat. I get off and this is what I see. The tire grabbed the rock and forced it into the wheel bending the rim! It managed to keep the seal so I could hobble her home. I'm so pissed. I know I'm lucky as my wife and everyone else I've told this story to has said but I don't know. I guess it's just me but when things happen to my car or bike I think of them first and not myself. Hahaha!! I checked around about fixing it and it would cost about $150-$170 to have the bend fixed. I checked on Craigslist and I think I'm just going to buy one off there for $200. Then get it mounted and balanced and put on which will cost another $100 I guess. The OEM wheel from the dealer retails for $516.00!! The wheels on my car weren't even that expensive! I don't understand what makes this little 17in so expensive. All in all it ruined my day. Just thought I would share my sadness with the rest of you. The funny thing is I was going to take pics of it today and put it on Craigslist to sell. I don't ever ride it and it just sits in the garage. It's a 2007 Suzuki gsxr-600 with 8,200 miles and I'm asking $5,700 if anyone is interested. Thanks.
You know what this means. Time to upgrade the wheels to marchensi or galespeed. lol Well glad your ok and also the bike. Yea just buy a used wheels. Best thing to do. Eventhough i never ride my bike because the g has all my attention i still love knowing its there for me to ride anytime i get the itch. Also its another vehicle i can drive if im modding the g and cant drive it.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to sell the bike and hopefully get either a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 or a Suzuki M50. Buddy of mine just got a Vulcan 800 and it's so comfortable to ride with enough power although I think there is no such thing. "Enough Power". Looking to maybe Bobb the bike out and make it look old school. Check out BlueCollarBobbers.com to see what I mean. Thanks again.
