Avic Z120BT compatibility

Quick question for you guys..

(I posted this in the tech area but that forum isn't to active)

I am terrible when it comes to audio equipment and knowing what does what and what plugs into where..

I am looking at buying the Avic Z120BT from pioneer next week and was just wondering if it is a straight forward install. I am having someone install it for me but my question is... Since I have the Bose system is there anything special that needs to be done? I don't plan on upgrading my speakers or adding a sub anytime soon.. Just starting with the double DIN.

Secondly I am looking at buying the JDM double DIN kit, I am assuming that will fit the 7 inch screen on the z120?

Thanks guys

That should fit in the jdm dd blake. There will be a gap around the radio as the jdm isnt a true dd size i believe. All you need is the harnesses for the bose system and the pac swi for the steering wheel controls if you want to keep em. Im jealous of your headunit your getting but i will be soon rocking 2 working screens i hope

You can get the harness from bestbuy or cartoys. Also you will need the antenna adapter. As for the pac you may need to get that from car toys. They should be able to tell you which one you need

IHMO, If you can spare the $$ go w/ the OEM kit...I'm really not a fan of the metra kit (you CAN tell the difference in quality/look)...remember, you do have to buy a separate A/C controller since the original is part of the board on the Bose system.

metra kit is cheaper and looks cheaper.. if you can get past that its good, I hear it fits better.

the JDM DD kit is OEM so it matches perfectly. the only issue is it was made a little large vertically so if you want it to look right you would have to do what I did and re-drill the bracket to make it fit perfectly, and then put a little black strip to hide the gap.

if you need help hit me up, I got a new drill press that would make the bracket drilling a snap.

I am using the metra and it looks the same, only the buttons are different. Either way, I thought you were going with the x920? Its not much different than the z120..

Difference of less than an inch of screen and no 3d buildings in the x920 nav version, oh and 4 volt preouts... all for 400-500 more. Is that really worth the cost difference?

If you still have any questions about anything send me a PM and I can definitely help a local guy out. I'm currently using the Z110, and have had the F90BT & X920. I have also had the Metra kit and am currently using the JDM version. I work at a car audio shop, so I deal with this kind of stuff on a regular basis.
