Murphy cops at it again..

man went to ****ing 7-11 to get some ice cream for the Mrs... I got my icecream, paid, walked out, got in the car, put my foot on the brake, started the car, put my hand on the gear to put the car in reverse, and I hear SIRENS and LIGHTS FLASHING.. Man it turned into ****ing COPS on Fox behind me... Freaking murphy cops in SUVs jump out and start banging on my window w/ flashlights (hand on his gun).. I let down the window and they start explaining how they got "complaints of someone going in and out of the store multiple times and making people nervous... " I'm like WHY ME?!?!?! man the gas pumps were full.. people were standing at the Redbox getting DVDs, and folks were in the building.. WHY ME!?!? So he makes me sit there till the other cop goes and gets the attendant and she verifies that I wasn't the one... She said, "We werent' even the store that called in the complaint.."

He leaves my window moves his SUV, and and says "you can go"... no sorry, no my bad.. Nothing.. I was "permitted" to leave..

BULLSHIT man..

My first incident w/ them happened the first day I went to record w/ Junior Hernandez at 5:30 am and they pulled me over for "supposedly speeding" (41 in a 35).. They also said I didn't have any markings on the rear of my car.. They couldn't tell what kind of car I was driving.. They also asked me what I do for a living and how I was able to afford "such a nice car that everyone wants".. They then scanned my registration to see if my car was stolen.. Then gave me a "fix it ticket" because my license was a few days expired.. I later went back the next day to see what the speed limit was, because I was sure it wasn't 35, and sure enough it was 45 the whole street.. it was NEVER 35 anywhere on that street.. They just thought my car was stolen and needed a reason to pull me over to scan my registration..

BULLSHIT AGAIN!!!

Dude...I obviously can't sympathize, but I do empathize. That is total and utter bullsh!t. I would file a complaint with the city courthouse/police station. You can't just let that crap slide man. Sitting there and taking it will do nothing. I'm preaching to the choir on this, I know, but I feel like this is not only unfair to you - it's an unfair representation of my race as well. A$$holes like that embarrass me, they really do.

This is the 21st mother effing century...why the hell do people still have to treat others like this? Fack everything about that man.

On behalf of the collective White - I apologize.

Dude honestly living over here, I would be put on a "list".. It's TOO easy to pull me over because of my car and stature in my community.. I'm a very visible person in my community as a coach and I'm honestly too accessible to be "causing a ruckus" for the local police.

It's really not to my benefit to report anyone... I'd only make my living situation worse for me and my children. They have to deal w/ this too as a multi-racial family, we stick out everywhere we go. The looks we get from our own races in public places is enough, we've gotten to where we ignore that, but to be taken advantage of by a person of power (police and such) is unbearable.

This just truly saddens me. I hear these stories from you and it literally blows my mind. You live in a city that borders mine and yet I can't imagine these kinds of things happening. Obviously I am "immune" since I am white, but I don't see why that should matter. The entire Plano/Murphy/Allen/Frisco/Addison area is multi-cultural is hell...why is it so shocking to see a successful black man? I don't see crap like this happening to Asians...and God knows we should probably be more leery of those sneaky ninja @ssholes I keed, I keed...

But seriously, this depresses me. Yea, there are always the outliers who bring a bad name to any race. I get that. There are shady black people...but there are also shady white people. It goes both ways. I feel like all of these local cops should be forced to go through training in a community where they are the minority and everyone looks at THEM as if they are the trouble-makers/the ones out of place. I really feel like we could all appreciate each other so much better if we were forced to be in opposite situations.

(and wow...apparently my soap box hadn't been getting any love recently because I am getting some serious use out of it tonight lol)

I mean like I said, there were stalls FULL of people, people at the red-box DVD machine, and people inside the store as well.. I was the FIRST car they pulled up to.. They WAITED until I got in the car so they could block me in.. It was calculated.. They didn't just "pull up on the scene" They WAITED for me to get in the car..

I mean is it my size as well? Every black person doesn't get pulled over or harassed as much as I do.. Some black people I know think it's crazy that I "still experience these things", and some don't even believe me.. Does the fact that I'm not a "default size" make me look like I cause trouble more frequently, or am more inclined to do so?

I remember the 2nd week me and my wife lived in this neighborhood, we were walking my son (Anthony) in his stroller, he was a little over a month old.. Just going on a walk around the neighborhood like everyone else does.. A dude in a jacked up car came up behind us while we were walking and asked "are you lost?"

If it makes you feel any better, Tony, I get harassed in my own city pretty often.

There have been times that I've been pulled over for the exact same thing as you have, "is this your car? are you sure?"

I just let it slide off my back. Sure, it is utter bullsh1t and it is embarrassing. I've filed numerous complaints but nothing has gotten out of it. I always get a general statement that basically states that they have probable cause to pull me over. I've given up fighting it.

And what bothers me the most about it, with the exception of my front plate, I'm a law abiding citizen. I'm not out there robbing stores and anything like that, I'm just driving along minding my own business but the police seem to think that pulling me over and investigating if my car is stolen is more important than trying to stop the serious crimes out there.

I feel your pain man. Truly I do.

i for one got pulled over once and ended up in cuffs because i "looked like the type to run"!!! they even asked if i spoke english and he said to his partner that they were gonna need a translator, only to hear me and make em look like idiots when i told em off in english.

only thing i can say is move down here to houston...majority of cops are hispanic or black LOL...and if they are white and racist they dont last long and are seriously outnumbered

The first week me and Cindy lived in this neighborhood we had a housewarming party.. We didn't have one of those big trashcans that the trashtruck picks up weekly yet because we were a new house.. Well we had a lot of trash and food from the housewarming party that was starting to stink in the garage..

We decided to dump the trash in one of those big trash bins that were around the corner from a new house they were building because the smell was unbearable. We pack up Anthony (1 month old) put him in the babyseat in the back. Mind you, this was around 11 pm. We put the trash in the dumpster, got back in the car, started heading down the street, only to be almost run over by a CREEPING police officer coming down the street with his HEADLIGHTS OFF.. We barely evaded him in time.

He goes to the end of the street, makes a U turn, and flashes us to pull over.. We do.. He comes on the passenger side (side I'm on) and starts yelling at me talking about "didn't you see me?" I explained, "BARELY because you didn't have your LIGHTS ON!!" Then he goes on to ask what we're doing, and I explained the situation.. He tells me they've been having property theft at the new houses being built, people stealing wood and windows etc. He then tells me to sit on the curb behind the car, and he was going to confirm my story w/ Cindy and if anything was different, he was taking me to jail. He also calls backup at this point. I guess he felt I was holding my family hostage.. I beg him to let me get my son who was SCREAMING at this point.. Remember, he's only a month old, he tells me to shut up and sit down (my neighbors are coming out of their houses at this point because the lights are flashing in their windows and it's around midnight now.) Backup arrives and they ask to search the car to make sure we didn't steal anything (we have a Mitsubishi mirage.. Good luck fitting a house window in there). We tell him go ahead (as if we had a choice) and he opens the trunk and gets WOFTED by the smell of the trash we'd just dumped..

It's now around 1am, I'm still sitting on the corner, my 1 month old son has been screaming for an hour straight, and about 5-7 neighbors have come outside to watch all this transpire in their front yards. Great way to meet your new black and mexican neighbors huh? Well they decide to "let us go this time" and ask me where we live.. I tell him "at the end of the street.." He says, "I suggest you stay home the rest of the night.. " I tell him, "I'm 25, I didn't know I had a curfew." He looks at me and says again.."I suggest you stay home the rest of the night.. " He followed me to the house, and waited outside for 15 mins to make sure we didn't come back out. I should have known from then, it was going to be a problem living here..

Move out of Murphy. Plain and simple. I have NEVER EVER heard of cops pulling crap like that in any of the other surrounding cities.

I still say that you need to file reports and get badge numbers, but that's just me. It sounds like basic power-tripping in my opinion.

And yes, I would attribute it to your stature. You are a big dude man. I'm sure the cops take one look at you and instantly realize in their mind that you could easily overpower them if you wanted to. That threatens them and makes it more difficult for you to be treated fairly.

Twalls I'd sit down with the police chief and explain what's been going on since the day you and your family move in. Let him know if this doesn't stop you're going to speak to the media so the whole town knows what kind of department he's running. The attitudes of the "Good Old Boy" police departments should have died in the late '60s!
