First time out in my 06' G35C 6mt

I went 14.63@95.57 with a 2.24 60ft. I'm not new to the drag strip just new to this car. Temp was about 90 degrees and the track is roughly 900ft. above sea level.

I was a little disappointed but I think I can get more out of it in better weather and more seat time. I'm not so much disappointed with the ET as I am with the MPH. I was hoping for at least high 90's.

The car is bone stock down to the filter and has about 4,000 miles on it.
I was shifting around 6900. I've since read that the tach's a usually a little off in these cars and that maybe if I ran it up a little past 7k that it might help slightly.

Any suggestions?

My first time out I had very similar results. A mid 14.7 trapping a mid 95 and a 2.29 sixty foot. Track is at about 700 feet, and the temps were in the high nineties. I too was stock.

Then in the winter, at the same track, I was trapping high 99's, then 100's, then 101's, then even 102's(and 2 103's with horrible launches). At the time I had a k&n and crawford cats.

The point is that the car will definitely go faster. And yes, the tach reads a bit high. In first gear, I shift at an indicated 7300. In 2nd and 3rd, it's about 7250.

Actually, I had crawford cats and a k&n filter. And it was 25 degrees. Thanks for the props though.

I believe there was a guy from NC that ran his 05 6MT sedan and pulled a 13.9@100 stock. I can't remember his handle though.

The weather has a large impact on the way a car runs. My stock 5AT sedan went 14.49@97.6mph in warm and humid air in May (low 80s). Then in the cool crisp November air (low 50s, dry), the car went 14.32@97.8mph. No changes were made to the car either other that a lot of rear negative camber thanks to not getting an alignment after installing springs.

97.8mph? Your sig say 97.7mph... Trying to inflate your numbers dave? Just kidding.

You state there was a difference of roughly 30 degrees, plus lower humidity. But your traps didn't change. What's up with that?

97.79mph

When I raced in the Fall, my car had significantly more rear camber (unaligned 1" rear drop) which may or may not have sucked out some MPH on the far end. When I ran in the Spring, my best MPH was 97.6mph with most runs in the lower 97s. In the Fall, my best MPH was 98.5mph and oddly, my best ET came on my slowest MPH of the day. On average, between Spring and Fall, the car was a crack over 1mph faster in the Fall. Conditions in the Spring was equal to around a 1,500' DA and in the Fall the DA was right near sea level.

80's with humidity and a 1500' DA? That's impressive. I'm not questioning you, I know it's possible. Even at 700 feet for the local tracks, 80 degrees here will net you at least 2500' DA.

So you picked up about 1mph for around drop of 1500' DA? That seems about right.

The baro pressure was pretty high that day which canceled out some of the heat and humidity. Also, it wasn't terribly humid (only around 40%), but it wasn't dry either. Usually when it's in the 80s and 90s at KCIR, the DA is typically in the 3000-4000' range. I usually don't een bother going to the track if the day is above 1500'. It's not worth my time and money to run crappy times. My goal is always to run a best. I use to run strictly for fun when it was hot out, but that's when it only cost $10 to run. Now it costs $25.
