ionno but i ran a 9.7 my first time at the 1/8th mile track. spun every time off the line and did all the proper launch techs plus lower tire psi but its miami....90% humidity and about 80+ degress on any given day/night. and yes, reaction time has NOTHING to do with ET

The exhaust will help. It won't take much more than .1 sec off your time though.

ET is easy to screw up, but MPH is not. 92mph is not good, especially at one of the quicker tracks in the nation E-town. 92mph is damn slow. Road and Track got a 14.4@96mph out of their 05 G35X tester and other G35X drivers have gone 14.5s@96mph stock. The X is about 150lbs heavier and has more driveline drag, but even with a bogged launch, the car should go upper 14s at 96mph. With an off idle launch and letting the tranny shift itself, my 03 RWD 5AT did 14.6s@97mph and 14.3s@98mph stock with a more aggressive launch. Here are my recommendations.

1) Yank the Stillen intake. They don't make any additional power and they can hurt low rpm power especially with a auto. Since you're only getting 92mph, you may have a vacuum leak. If anything, pull the intake off, check everything, and reinstall.

2) Don't waste your time running in the summer. E-town is at sea level which is great, but it still gets hot as hell there in the summer. Engines don't like the heat. It's not uncommon to be .3-.4 second and 2-3mph slower in the summer. Run in the Fall when temps are in the 40s-50s and the humidity is low.

3) Use this launch technique. Pull up to the line and stage. Foot on brake. Foot on gas to the floor. One second later, release brake. The rpms should be at around 2,400 to 2,500rpms coming off the line.

4) Don't bother with plugs. The car is still basically new and the OEM plugs are good for at least 60K, probably closer to 80K.

5) Don't bother adding any other mods until you figure out how to get some better ETs and MPHs out of the car.

I would really look at your launch like the last posted stated. Try to launch at 2500. Use your footbrake to hold you in place.

this morning at work when i finished.i did that.hold down the brake hard.floored the gas.almost at 3000 rpm then when i let go of the brake.i felt a more torque type of launch.and it got to speed real quick.

btw at e-town.i would launch by taking my gas pedal foot(right foot) off the brakes and then slam the gas while launching at idle rpm.

thx for the techniques guys. next time i go to e-town ill try it in the winter and c if it improved

That type of launch isn't going to help you at all. You've got AWD so I would try to launch at the highest rpm possible to overcome all the driveline bog AWD will cause. Another option is to yank the AWD fuse and run RWD for the 1/4 mile. I don't know if it would help much or not. Try reinstalling your stock intake box (leave the Z-pipe) and see how the car feels from 0-40mph. I think you'll notice a good bit more grunt, minus the cool induction sound.

I've seen an X run in the mid 15's at 89-90 in the hot June heat a couple years ago at E-town. I think that's why X-man bought a SC. Seems the SC's are in big demand from X'ers who have gone to the track. The same day in my RWD 03.5, I ran 95-96 at 14.5. That was a big difference I didn't expect between the cars. I was racing an auto Z (twice) and he was in the high 14's at 94. Heat was killer that day.

I was about to post the same thing. Lots of people think that the reaction time effects your ET. This IS NOT the case. Time doesnt start until you move.

Yeah, I used to bracket race and some racers there thought their reaction had something to do with ET. I never told them different (well only the ones I got along with), since I was racing them. They would screw up their dial in times because they were giving themselves room for their reaction time. It was easy beating that group.

dont listen to these idiots and do neutral drops. terrible for the car.

power brake it. hold the brake down, and bring revs up to around 3-4k, then release brake and accelerate. thats the best wat to launch your x. its not the end of the world running a 15. like ted said, there are so many factors... and in the end its fun either way.

from what i have research most 06 sedan runs at like mid 13-low 14 and ive seen it before and it was running on STOCK

Mid 13s stock? Ummm....no. One 03-06 sedan has gone 13.8s stock, a few in the 14.0-14.2 range, and a bunch in the 14.3-14.6 range.

How in the world are you able to stall out the converter to 3000-4000rpms when the stock stall speed is about 2,800rpms in 1st and about 2,900rpms in reverse? It doesn't seem possible.

Yeah it can take a while to get use to these cars at the track even more so as a automatic cause all the govener ****. Took me a while but now my 03 Coupe 5AT runs 14.053@99.28 was the last time i went there thats with a 2.07 60 foot out here at Houston Raceway Park. now i have more mods in and still coming. Hoping for a 13 next time out. general rule of thumb is 100lbs off the cars weight is alittle more than a .1 off your time. I want to figure out this govener and get a Tourqe converter so i can pull some 1.8 60 foots or somthing. Im use to my camaro pulling 1.5 60 foots love that neck snapping feeling

Btw my time was with only pop charger. I now have test pipes and spacer and ypipe.
