quarter mile problem

i timed only my g35x sedan 06' at e-towns raceway park.i get 15.2 seconds at 92 mph on the 1/4 mile.i just have a stillen cai with z tube.and i use q advanced horsepower 5w-30.

ive done research that people get their sedans at 14s.

ive done the 1/4 mile in auto and autoshift.

is there something wrong with my g sedan.or am i shifting wrong.

any tips will help.thx

Not that I've taken my car to track before, but what i've seen and read...

Do you have heavy aftermarket wheels? VDC on or off? Maybe try running on the more ideal climate conditions. Those are just a couple things i can think of asking.

1) What size tires you running?

2) Do you have a passenger with you?

3) How many bacon double cheeseburgers do you eat just before racing?

4) What's the air temp / humidity when you race?

5) Full tank, half tank, 1/4 tank of gas?

6) Spare tire, no spare?

Lots of factors go into why one car does what another can't. Remember, every 100lbs is .1 of sec on the quarter mile.

Some cars are also just stronger, naturally. Luck of the draw.

Cheers, Ted

i have the 6 spoke infiniti 17 inch wheels. with the full size spare in the trunk.i did turn off vdc.and i did run it on the summer.

think is because of the heat.

or could it be minimal parts like spark plugs.i havent taken it to the service department of infiniti since march.i have 33,000 + miles on her.shes my daily driver

Try Using Drive Instead Of The Auto Shift, An Automatic Tranny Can Shift Faster Than You Can Without Any Hesitation. Unless You Have A Six Speed, Its Your Best Bet

im pretty sure low 14's are with the manual tranny

i would think that auto would still be capable of maybe high 14's, to which you arent that far off.

How are you launching?

Are you revving up to 3000 or so and then slapping it into drive?

This will of course put a heavy amount of wear on your tranny and its not recommended, but its the best way to launch an auto that i know of.

You can also rev with your left foot on the brakes and take some stress off of the tranny. No one asked, what was your 60'? I see that you are getting a normal mph, maybe your problem is with your launching technique. Don't do a burn out before a run, and make sure you go around the water so that your tires don't get wet. If you are spinning a lot off the line, try lowering the air pressure on your tires a bit and see how it works, but don't lower it too much so that it doesn't affect your trap speed. It is about getting it down to a good launching technique so that you can get the most out of your car. Work on the driver mod before putting things on your car.
