need going to the strip tips....

Going to the strip for the first time with this car. Playing with it on the street the car does not like clutch drops from a stop, severe axle hop. Same happens on the 1-2 shift IF powershifted.

I will be running just as she sits, 245/40r18 Yokahamas.

1) What is a good starting point for launch RPM. I'm thinking 2800 rpm....

2) Given a sticky track vs the street, powershift or no???

3) Good shift rpm??? Thinking of just running it out to 6500 rpm....

This is odd, I've seen people post times and talk about drag racing but yet no responses to my post. Very strange....

1) 2800 rpm is a good start if the car bogs try 3500rpm and feather the clutch
2) Do not powershift
3) redline as late as it lets u. If u have 03-04 that tachometer says about 6800 rpm.

1+ to Klubbheads post.

Also, make sure you go around the water box if you are running street tires. After you go around the box, do a quick clutch drop to spin & clean to tires a bit.

It's gonna take alot of practice for anyone to get their very best personal time... goodluck!

I disagree. You do not red line all the way...power is lost eventually the closer you get to red line. Look at the graph and youll see the power drop off eventually..there are shift points for our cars like any other car, these point out the final rpm range you have in each gear before the power of your vehicle begins to be lost

This has been discussed by people that do numerous tests including myself and stock rev limiter is the optimum point to shift for rev-ups at 7100 and for non-revups at 6600rpm(which usually shows 6800rpm on the tach) . For non-revups that have their rev limiter raised to 7100, it is important to shift before 7000rpm on the tach to get better ET and MPH for 6MTs only.

Old thread, but it's not about shifting at peak power. If you shift at peak power, which is usually around 6200 RPM's, you would not fall in to the ideal powerband in the next gear.

It's all about averaging the best HP possible throughout the powerband. And shifting at redline yields a better average than shifting at peak power.

Tony (Hydrazine) had a great graph to illustrate this. If I find it, i'll post it up.

so you would advise to not shift at peak power when trying to accelerate the vehicle at its fastest pace?

correct shift close to redline and then you will be in higher rpms in the next gear. If you shift at your peak power 6200rpm you will drop to low in rpm in the next gear.
