Another new Personal Best - Pretty Happy

I haven't been to the 1/4 track since last May, the night where my lone run netted me my 13.6. A local group rented a track south of us, MMP, and Cheryl and I attended today. The track is widely regarded as a fast track, and conditions were great. Temps were in the upper 60s/lower 70's all day, there were no clouds, and the track prep was top-notch.

I got 22 runs today. Because the track was rented out, we could pretty much hot-lap at will. I'm not going to do what I normally do and analyze each run. Here are the runs in order:

Run # ---- 60 ------ 1/8 ------ 1/4
1: 2.640, 9.436@81.40, 14.230@102.88 -- yes, this was on DR's
2: 2.052, 8.793@82.06, 13.552@103.77 -- new PB
3: 1.915, 8.586@82.21, 13.347@103.67 -- new PB
4: 1.945, 8.658@81.58, 13.456@102.75
5: 2.065, 8.758@81.75, 13.539@102.99
6: 1.992, 8.644@81.77, 13.428@102.90
7: 1.890, 8.576@81.90, 13.356@103.16 -- first ever 1.8x sixty
8: 2.008, 8.640@81.92, 13.413@103.51
9: 2.032, 8.669@82.26, 13.431@103.35
10: 1.966, 8.684@82.01, 13.446@103.62
11: 1.905, 8.543@82.48, 13.285@103.98 -- new PB ET, new PB trap
12: 2.161, 8.750@82.66, 13.481@104.34 -- new PB trap
13: 1.895, 8.521@82.53, 13.264@103.96 --new PB
14: missed 2nd - shut down
15: missed 2nd - shut down
16: 1.917, 8.579@82.25, 13.341@103.38
17: 2.015, 8.663@82.47, 13.410@103.83
18: 1.867, 8.524@82.30, 13.405@100.21 -- missed 4th
19: 2.031, 8.918@79.90, 13.791@101.39 -- had a passenger
20: missed 2nd
21: 2.000, 8.701@82.25, 13.459@103.77
22: 1.945, 8.671@82.05, 13.441@103.38
So my new personal best is 13.264@103.96mph. And my runs can be summarized like this:

Missed 2nd on 3 of 22 runs - much better than my normal average. Today I short shifted 1>2 at 5 grand. After 13 straight runs without a missed shift, I decided to wring out 1st a little longer, which resulted in misshifts on two consecutive runs. Same thing on run #20; I wanted to get just a little more out of it.

3 of my launches finally saw high 1.8 second sixties.

Of my good runs, 18, 16 of those beat my previous personal best of a 13.6.

My two 13.2xx runs came later in the day as it warmed up. I started picking up some trap as well, which is weird, but at the same time my delta between the 1/8 mile and 1/4 traps shrunk as the temps increased.

I had one 14 second run, two 13.2's, three 13.3's, ten 13.4's, two 13.5's, and one 13.7.

I had four runs where I trapped 102, 12 passes where I trapped 103, and one pass where I trapped 104.

I have said many times that the difference between the trap on my first run and my best run of the day is typically in the neighborhood of 1.5mph. My first run yielded a 102.88, and my best trap was a 104.34, which is almost exactly 1.5mph.

This car has a few more 104mph passes in it, and possible a 105mph pass, if I can get to the track when the temps get in the 40's.

Summary: 13.264@103.96mph.

Congrats on the times, 104mph with no internal mods is flying. Now update your sig and top times! Dont forget to post on my350z, that should jump you up in the top 10 times on the NA section.

P.S. Just re-read your sig.... no intake spacer?

Thanks for reminding me to update my signature. I'll do that now. I'll update the top times once I scan the timeslip. Of course I know the times are verified; I was there , but I want to be fair and the rules should apply to me as well. Same goes for the list on my350z; I'll post over there whenever I get the slip scanned.

As for the spacer, I do have a spacer. I have the mrev+, which includes the 5/16" spacer.

Excellent times Trey! Wow...

You updated the Top15 but forgot to edit your time; no need to be humble about such a magnificent time Trey!

You should post this up at My350z.com to see what kind of reaction this gets; some people have this misconception about 4-Door G35's.

According to your sig, this was done in 900's DA's; maybe i'm getting a little out of hand, but with a 1.7 60FT on 0-100 DA's, would we ever see 12's?

.

I put down 246hp to the wheels at Sharif's. At the local dynojet, I put down 266/248 the last time it was dyno'd.

I'll update it shortly. I promise. And I plan on putting it on my350z; it should place me at 9th place if I recall.

And I'm not going to cut 1.7's on these tires. That track was prepped as well as any track I've visited. I do think, however, that if I could eek out ~10hp/~5tq across a large enough range of the power band, coupled with slicks, that I might hit high 12.9's. But there's no power left in the car.

Some might question my estimates on the 10hp/5tq. I've picked up about 22hp and almost 40tq from stock, and my traps have increased by 5 to 6 mph correcting for conditions. I think if I could pick up another 1.5mph trap, and pick up another tenth on the launch if full-on slicks, that I might be able to pull it off with perfect driving and perfect conditions. But like I said, there's not enough power on the table.

If money weren't a concern... a pair of cams would probably do great work on a full NA VQ35; too bad they are so expensive with labor.

Either way, you should be very proud of those numbers. I know you're definately making us VQ enthusiasts /VQ dragsters proud.

Just shows how dyno numbers should only be used for tuning purposes as they are meant to be used. Too many people live off of their dyno numbers. There have been many G's that have had better dyno numbers at the same type of dyno that he used; yet, im pretty sure his G35 Sedan is one of the fastest NA VQ35's in here

My scanner just doesn't work anymore, so we were limited to using the digital camera. I apologize for the quality.

Thanks guys for the props. There was one 335 coupe there, and I talked to the owner. He was just there to watch, so I didn't get to see how it ran. The owner said he had a "juicebox", but he was otherwise stock. I've not kept up with that platform, so I didn't know what the juicebox was; I just assumed it was something similar to the PROcede. He confirmed. He said that the previous night at the same track, he was running 13.0's at 108mph on street tires.
