The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly....

Well we finally got to the 1/4 mile track where we could get more than 1 freakin' run. It was a track day where we could basically hot lap from about 10:30am to 5pm.

The Good - the track was really well prepped, the temps were pretty good for this time of year around here and the times were better than the previous trip.

The Bad - times were not quite what I hoped they would be and the wonderful slave cylinder clutch problem cropped back up and limited me to 7 runs for the whole day

The Ugly - the car was nursed home and will be towed to the dealership Monday morning to have the clutch problem looked at. This was the first time I had driven the car more than about 30 minutes without stopping since they worked on this problem before so apparently the slightly over an hour trip down there was too much for it. It's just like before where street driving it seems to be fine and keeps enough pressure in the line to work the clutch but driving for a long way it basically renders the clutch dead. By the time I had driven it back home it would barely go into gear. NOT grinding gears (I know better than to force it!) but it was as though the clutch pedal wasn't even being pushed.

So the breakdown is as follows:
1. 14.696 @ 96.93 with 2.455 sixty foot (first run, still nervous, first street tires on the track that day)

2. 14.168 @ 100.10 with 2.215 sixty foot (didn't ring out the gears completely; pedal sticking after shifting into 4th)

3. 14.129 @ 92.85 with 2.166 sixty foot (car did not want to go into 4th easily so I had to clutch twice to get it to go into gear)

4. 14.253 @ 99.49 with 2.234 sixty foot (after letting the car rest for 45 minutes; hit rev limiter in 2nd gear)

5. 14.656 @ 92.09 with 2.443 sixty foot (had to clutch twice to get into 2nd and slow shifted into 4th to avoid any possible issue)

6. 14.496 @ 98.58 with 2.357 sixty foot (after letting the car sit for a little over an hour; Trey was in the car with me; no issues with shifts)

7. 15.680 @ 70.57 with 2.231 sixty foot (no passenger; 2nd and 3rd were notchy and wouldn't go into 4th so I just coasted rather than risk a possible problem)

After the last run I put her up for the day and said no way was I willing to risk anything further since I still needed to get home. Damn Infiniti and their crappy clutch system on these cars!!!

looking at the 60ft times, ET, MPH and the problems, it looks like the car is capable of 13s. Have u let Trey drive ur car?

BTW I never had a problem with my clutch 51k on the car still on stock clutch and lots of street and drag launching was given on this clutch. But i gotta say i went through one tranny.

But you don't have the '07, right? It's the damn '07 they managed to screw.

Trey doesn't want to drive my car at the track. I have made the suggestion several times and each time he gives some reason why he doesn't want to right then. Don't know what the deal is really - guess you'll have to ask him.

I'll give it a shot once the clutch/slave cylinder issue is resolved. The main reason I don't want to drive it is because I don't like launching on street tires anymore.

100mph traps on street tires is healthy. Getting off the line better netted me another 1-2mph. After getting the slave cylinder issue fixed you may want to look into some DR's to level the playing field with your hubby

Car SHOULD be done today. I'm glad they are getting it fixed quickly. She had to be towed to the dealership because the clutch was completely inoperable by Monday morning.
