Can't break into the 14's

I went to the track yesterday for the first time. My best run was a 15.4, 60ft was 2.3, and trap was 92mph. I was launching between 2500-3000 with VDC off and shifting around 6200rpm. I have a 2004 6mt coupe with a k&n drop in, z-tube, and 1/2 MD iso spacer, also I dropped my tire pressure down to 25psi (tires are 245/45/ZR18 Cooper Zeons). I could never get the tires to bite. Temp was 85. PLEASE HELP

Isn't the rev limiter on a non-revup motor something like 6800? You can pick up some trap speed just by shifting at 6700 or so.

shift 150 rpm before redline. period. And heat up the tires more? track prep must have SUCKED. Though 2.3 is not NOT respectable... i am a 2.0X, my best being a 1.97 stock.

6200 RPM shifts?

Keep practicing and get those shifts to atleast around 6700's.

Goodluck.

I'm still tring to get used to the G. My IS wouldn't allow me to go over the redline (auto). I guess need to practice more to get out of that habit.

The redline for the non revups (your engine) is 6800 RPM...

Practice is always the key. Make sure you get those 60ft's as close as 2.0 as you can, and shift the hell of out the tranny

Even with shifting at 6200 I can't see why you're in the 15's, but yeah try to get it around 6500-6600.

OP your running .2 of a second faster than my Trailblazer did in the 1/4.

Work on your shifting, theres no way you should be that slow.

1. work on ur launch
2. shifting at 6200rpm means ur shifting at about 5800-5900 rpm because tach needle is off about 200-400 rpm depending on gear
3. shifting at 5800-5900 rpm means ur not even close to peak power which comes at 6200rpm
4. U are drag racing, use all the revs u can.

Clearly theres something wrong. Its rare to see G's higher than 14.9's stock.
