Going to the Track
Going to the Track
Heading to the track tomorrow. Hoping for mid-low 14s.
My car is a 05 sedan AT. Mods are HR y-pipe, coupe mid pipe, hks muffler, z tube, 5.16th spacer, and a JWT pop charger. I am lowered but have coupe 19s.
Should i take everything out that i can?

Low 14s should be easily attainable with those mods as long as the weather isn't too bad. Just make sure you get a good 60'.
Unless you want to take out your seats, there's really not much else worth taking out besides your spare/tools/floor mats.

Any secrets to obtaining a quicker time? Temps are gonna be in the 50s-low 60s MAYBE. So it will be cooler.
Will taking that stuff out really make that big of a difference? This track is the closest one to my house and its an hour and a half away so i wouldnt wanna get a flat or somthing then not have a spare haha

You can bring your spare and tools, but take it out at the track before you actually run. Not sure if you're going with any friends or not, but have them look out for your stuff. But typically, if it's just a spare and a scissor jack, I don't think anyone's gonna try and steal that.
But yes, taking out all that stuff out, plus running with a low tank of gas, will probably take off .1 or more on your time.
Some other tips:
1. Don't burnout on street tires. Drive around the water pit.
2. Brake torque, and make sure you're launching at the right RPM.
3. Use manumatic! I've tried both, and by shifting manually, you can shave off at least another .1 sec plus give you a higher trap speed.
4. Don't let off at the end. Go all out until your car completely passes the finish line.

I occasionally did a small burnout in the box, but i didnt really do it because my tires are spendy.
Got 5 runs in before i left. Ran a modded turbo DSM twice, an integra, a CRX and a civic hatch.
DSM detroyed me. The civics pulled away at the start and i reeled them in at the end of the track (no replacement for displacement).
Best time i mustered was a 14.950 at 95.61mph.
The other times were all around 14.95 or 14.99. Slowest was a 15.061. Atleast my car is consistent....
Im kinda disappointed with my times. Another AT sedan was there with just a spacer and z tube, and he ran a 14.7 every time.
I think it may have been my wheels and tires, plus a sub in the trunk.
Here are the videos.
There is another day at the end of May. Im going to take my dads 08 out and see what that can run.

burning out is completely pointless on street tires and if you were going to do one you should of done a longer one because you need to get all the water off, that could of been a reason.
It's about what I expected for your first time out and on those boat anchor 19s. I figured ~14.8ish. I calculated the DA today out Rock Falls and it was right around 1,500'. The good news is that's not stellar DA. The DA alone is worth about .15 seconds and 1mph or so. 96mph traps are solid though your 60 foots are really bad though. You're going to have to tell me your launch technique because it seriously needs help and/or those 19s and hot air intake you have are impacting launch more than I thought. You should be able to get at least upper 2.2s, even with the 19s. Maybe consider dumping that bunk HAI and going back to the stock airbox. A high 2.2 60 foot and better conditions would put you in the 14.5@97mph range ON the 19s.
I ranged from 1600-2100rpm brake torqing it.
My reaction times also sucked the big one. Like .552.
You really think the pop charger is that bad? Im not sure man. Maybe added weight in the car? Had a little under half tank, my spare, tools, and a sub in the back (next time im gonna remove that)
Jeff said it couldnt be my 19s?

Show up at the track with a 1/4 of fuel and leave the sub at home. Consider at least putting the OEM 17s on the back to reduce inertial weight. It will help more than you think. When you get to the strip, put your tools in a cooler and place the spare on top. No one's gonna screw with it.
When you come to the line to stage, creep up until the pre-stage light comes on. Then ever so slowly creep until the stage light comes on. Doing this will give you an extra 6" of roll out which helps drop ET because you're technically getting a 1mph headstart.
Your launch should be the following:
1) Foot on brake
2) Foot to the floor on gas
3) Release brake approximately 1 second later. This should equal about a 2300-2400rpm launch.
I think your POP charger is killing your 60'. Get rid of it. It's been proven over and over that these intakes are nothing more than hot air ingesting noise makers. Get the Revup airbox and call it a day.
not bad times. Get your 60's down to a 2.1-2.2 and you will see a better ET. The DAs were very high too which can hurt times. It takes practice, my first time I couldnt do better than a 14.7.
I ran just ran 14.500@96.44 MPH the other night, the DA was around 195 which is very good, all I have is a Z-tube and im lowered. You should definitely be able to pull a low 14 with a good launch and optimal conditions.
