1st time to the drag strip ever last night
well we gathered up the guys from SGS and went to the strip last night for some fun!
It was a nice night for racing and some ridiculous whips at the track with all kinds of cars in attendance.
I ran at the strip for the first time ever and STRUGGLED! LOL - my R/T was pretty bad and needs some work but it was fun as hell!!! I ran 8 times and posted my 1st run vs. my best run.
Comparison from 1st run - best run
R/T - .785 --- .641
60' - 2.541 --- 2.350
330 - 6.502 --- 6.088
1/8 - 9.817 --- 9.138
MPH - 76.50 --- 82.38
1000 - 12.521 --- 11.698
ET - 14.777 --- 13.861
MPH - 100.91 --- 104.96
I had to run on my show 20's instead of my 18" RPF's since discount tire really effed me. so i think the better rubber and lighter wheels would've helped, but the real reason for the times is This Guy!!
All in all - i had a great time, got better as the night went along, didn't stall and avoided any damage to the car, so i consider that a success. I will definitely be going again and shooting for improvements all around!

I'm about .3-.5 secs slower if I run with my heavy 20's compared to my 18's.
If you had on your enkei's you would of probably went mid- low 13's.

ran today at IFO - all in all pretty dissappointed with my times - most in the 14.0x range... had some much improved RT's so i am getting the hang of that i think... best was .180
I also learned that i need practice at burnouts as i stalled my car when i finally tried one (LOL)...
best pass was 13.692 @ 108.42 which was better than last time so i guess improvements all around...
Next time i will work on burnouts - LOL and maybe doing some powershifting.

The time you need to worry is your 60ft you need to get it in the 1.9-2.0 range on street tires.
notice the difference in my 60fts and ET. These are my best runs to date on street tires.
If you can get your 60 down and shift perfect you will be alot faster.

I think you will feel better with a 1.5 RT concentrating on your launch and shifting to get your 60ft down and running consistent 12's don't worry about the car you are racing.
Once you get that down then work on speeding it up at the line for your RT. Good luck it takes alot of practice to get it right especially if your FI you have to learn your car again.
Have fun at the track and have a goal in mind get the launch and 60ft down and faster times will follow for sure.

I have observed you get at least 1.5x your improvement in 60ft time at the end. For example 2.2 vs 2.0 60ft could mean 13.8 vs 13.5 finish. Def. practice that launch, then shifting speed. Just watch out for wheel hop, back off immediately if you sense it. Wheel hop is the primary killer of axles and other driveline components.
