Best launch for a 5AT coupe
anyone know the best way to launch a 5AT coupe? I know turning off the VDC will help but anything else you can teach a youngin
Power brake launch-
VDC off
Hold brake pedal >>> rev to 1500/2k >> Mesh gas simutaneously letting off the brakes when u are at a go
I find that any launch over 3k makes alot of wheel spin on stock wheels/tires

My best launch and reaction time was:
28 psi (balding tires)
VDC off
Hold brake pedal
rev to ~1K RPM
Mash the gas
It got me a .103 reaction time and my best run without any spin.

i am going to disagree with these guys and until they can post better than consistant low 2.1 60' times i will do it my way.
dont hold the gas at all it makes it hesitate when you take off, put the auto manual shift in third gear, hold the brake down firmly, then floor it and then let off the brake. reving it up and trying to take off got me 2.2 and 2.3 s so i figured out a way to take off faster.
14.2 bone stock in florida with 2.1 60' times is pretty good i think....

What kind of magic transmission do you have that you can put it in third while standing still?
Seriously though, I'm pretty sure that my coupe can't do that. Is that a feature on the sedans? Or did I totally misread your post?

he is talking about a 5AT
in manual mode you can put it in to 1 2 3 4 5 gear while sitting still
the gear you leave it in limits how high it will shift before it pegs the rev limiter
for instance... if you put it in 3 when you take off it will shift into second automatically and then third automatically and then peg the rev limiter in third
glad i could be some help for my sarcastic fellow g drivers

Mine's an '03 5AT coupe. Jeremey when you put it in 4th to start out your still starting out in 1st. The car will automatically shift through the gears until you hit 4th or whatever gear you put it in when your stopped. If you don't manually shift from 4th to 5th you'll hit the rev limiter.
i know what gear it starts in, i am just saying the gear that is displayed on my dash. sorry if there is any confusion but thats what i meant.
the gear on the dash is just the one it will hit the rev limiter at
so i start in 3 not third gear

You’re stopped, you switch to manumatic mode. On the instrument panel some sedan's will allow you to shift into 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. Let’s say you shift into 4th gear. At this point your instrument panel is showing you’re in 4th gear at a dead stop, not possible. When you start out the car is actually still in 1st gear. All you’re doing is allowing the car to automatically shift until you hit 4th gear. To shift into 5th gear you would have to use manumatic mode. If you didn’t you would remain in 4th and hit the rev limiter.
