My run vs STR4

I was coming home from my GF's house driving on street road at around midnight. Normally I dont race on the streets but this guy wit his GF in his car was being a jack ***. He revved his engine next to me every chance he gets and cut me off a few times. So enough was enough. We did 3 runs total. SRT had exhaust and intake upgrade, only thing I noticed. my 04 at

1st- he spun his wheels with 1st and I pulled ahead, 2 cars and kept the same pace up to 80mph.
2nd- he missed 2nd gear
3rd- same as first but 3 cars length at 110mph

verdict- without wheel spin, the SRT 4 was pretty even with the G and i couldnt pull away from him nor did he pull from me.

Last night I went to a local small-time track, 1/8th mile only, with a buddy in his SRT4, and another guy in his 02 TA WS6. I had 9 runs against the SRT4.

Both of us are new to this; this was just my third time at the track, and it was the first time for him in that SRT4. It only has a little over 1k miles on it, so it's not *completely* broken in yet.

Anyway, out of the 9 runs, I had two mis-shifts, and he had 1, so we only really had 6 runs where we could compare numbers. Results? We were identical. I beat him 5 out of those 6 runs, but only marginally. And I'm talking about ET's, not full runs including R/T's. We were so close, that on a few runs we were separated by like .04 seconds. That's right: FOUR HUNDRETHS of a second.

We were amazed at how similarly the cars performed. However, I have a little more experience in my car than he does with his. It's still gonna break in a little more. And I was running about 1/4th tank of gas, and my tires were lowered to around 29psi. He had a full tank, and didn't adjust his tires.

So the next time we go, I expect him to walk me.

Why unless he starts doing some heavy mods?

Just because I think he has better natural skills than I do, and the fact that his car, stock, has more room for improvement as it brakes in, and he tweaks it(fuel level, tire pressures, jsut your basic prep).

You should work on your driving as well and hit those high rpm shifts fast. Your trap is a little low for a 6spd as well.

I agree... I definitely need to improve my driving skills. My shifts are taking too long, though on my last run of the night last week my 60 was a 2.19.. granted, that's as high of a 2.1 you can have without it being a 2.2, but that's the first time I've hit a 2.1.

Just need more seat time.
