2nd time at track...
2nd time at track...
Took the G35 out the 2nd time to the track. This time I added a Z-Tube and K&N and removed the power duct, also switched to Mobil 1 synthetic at 7k miles. Set front tires to 37psi and rears to 30psi, took out the full size spare wheel and I was off to the track. Well I was surprised to find out that the Z-tube and k&n panel filter don't add any horsepower at all. My car trapped the exact same speed (96.5mph) on the best runs of each night. The only thing it does it makes the engine sound louder. Best run all stock was 14.71 at 96.5 and best time tonight was 14.6 at 96.5. The only reason it did a 14.6 was because my 60 foot time was slightly better, a 2.23. I was hitting 2.2 60 foot times all night by brake torquing and launching at 2k rpm. There is very little wheelspin and the car takes off. Any advice on how to get the 60 foot time down to 2.1? Also, my 1/8 mile time was 9.52 at 74.6mph, the MPH seems like it's a little low. I think if I can get it up to 75-76mph in the 1/8th I should be trapping 97-98mph in the 1/4. I was manually shifting every run at as close to redline as possible. Weather was pretty decent, in the 70's but the humidity was high...
was the temp and humidity the same as the first time at the track (when you were stock)?... if not you might not want to dismiss the mod. Too bad you didn't do back to back runs before and after the mod to see if there was any gain.
