I've really seen no measurable variance between trap and 60 foot in any of my cars. I know for a fact that all my best ETs had always come with best MPHs. This is all assuming my 60 foot isn't something retarded like a 2.4+ and I'm not spinning wildly all through 1st or in 2nd.

well up until my most recent trip the top speed always went with the best ET. On the runs in question though the worse 60' made the better trap speed.
2.316 60' yeilded 14.790 @ 97.24mph
2.255 60' yeilded 14.623 @ 96.98mph
Granted these are not huge differences but I thought it odd none the less.

Went to LACR tonight...met Eldridge.
He has a 2004 G35 Coupe with an auto.
Before I post what I saw as his time, let me say
this:
Anybody who knows LACR knows it's a SLOW track.
It's over 2700 feet in elevation, the track runs slightly uphill (especially the last 200 feet which looks to climb about up about 8 or so feet.
There is ALWAYS a right front head wind of at least 10 mph and
15-20 mph is not uncommon.
Tonight it was in the mid 60's with 12-14 mph right front head winds, and 33% humidity according to weather.com
The best I saw him run was a:
14.7 @ 94.8
He told me he has a Plenum Spacer, Z-Tube, and catless test Exhaust pipe (and maybe one other minor mod)
I didn't take my G35 sedan, but rather my
Subaru Legacy GT Limited (sedan 5 speed manual)
With a Cobb Accessport Stage 1 (91 Octane) reflash
and Enkei RPM2 18 x 7.5 wheels with Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S tires
as my only mods, I ran:
14.16 @ 95.44 mph

I didn't know until I looked to see what if any effect the time difference would have been. I see your reasoning on that though. I am not too worried about the time/mph difference - just thought it was odd. I don't run the car for bragging rights (though I will take them if I can
) I just run it for fun.

Why is that track uphill? That seems so weird to me.
It's not exactly "uphill" as I made it sound, it's just not
perfectly level and rises up a bit near the end.
It's an OLD track and the ground moves here in California
so over the years it might have just "adjusted" a bit.
But you can plainly look at the track and see the dip
around the 1000 foot mark and see how before the timing
lights it appears to go uphill just a bit.

I have the times from my runs and a video in this thread:

Hey Eldridge,
I'm a bonehead, I just posted in another thread and said what's up, didn't think to look in this thread.
I'm going again tonight (11-25-05) and this time bringing the 05 G35 auto.
She's still pretty much stock (except new wheels/tires)
It's supposed to be nice and cool tonight, but AS ALWAYS it's going
to have the front right headwind (20 mph tonight) contributing to crappy times.
I don't know what to expect from the car. It only has 2500 miles on it and
of those, only about 300 are from me, so I'm not really versed in the G35's
launching technique.
Yeah, the Subaru is fast, but the turbo 4 runs out of steam a bit in the top end, so it's trap speeds are the greatest. But off the line, with the AWD
it surprises and takes much more powerful cars in the first 1/8th mile.
Maybe I'll see you tonight.
